Is liver ascites in the late stage?

We all know that the liver is a very important organ for us. However, if liver cirrhosis occurs, we will find that the patient's complexion looks particularly abnormal. In addition, in the early stage of liver cirrhosis, the liver will first show ascites. If liver cirrhosis is not treated quickly, it is likely to turn into liver cancer. So is ascites a late stage?

What do patients with advanced liver cirrhosis look like? Cirrhosis is caused by various chronic liver diseases. If cirrhosis is not treated in time, it often develops into liver cancer. Cirrhosis of the liver is a diffuse degeneration and necrosis of liver cells, followed by proliferation of fibrous tissue and nodular regeneration of liver cells. These conditions occur alternately, causing the liver to degenerate and harden, and then develop into cirrhosis. The following is a brief introduction to advanced liver cirrhosis:

1. Endocrine disorders. In the late stage of cirrhosis, the liver function is significantly reduced, resulting in a decrease in the liver's inactivation function of estrogen, an increase in estrogen levels in the human body, and suppression of androgen.

2. Bleeding tendency and anemia. In the late stage of cirrhosis, there will be epistaxis, gingival bleeding, skin ecchymosis, gastrointestinal mucosal erosion and bleeding, nasal bleeding, vomiting blood and black stools. Women often have symptoms such as excessive menstruation. This makes gastrointestinal bleeding worse.

3. Upper abdominal pain. In the late stage of cirrhosis, abdominal pain symptoms may also appear. The pain is mostly in the upper abdomen, often paroxysmal, and sometimes colic. This is mainly caused by peptic ulcer, biliary tract disease, intestinal infection, etc., and is often accompanied by fever, jaundice and pain in the liver area.

4. Neuropsychiatric symptoms. In the late stage of cirrhosis, neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, excitement and hydrops may also appear.

5. Portal hypertension. Portal hypertension makes gastrointestinal bleeding more severe, the amount of bleeding is large and rapid, and vomiting blood often occurs. If timely rescue is not given, it will endanger the person's life.

6. Weight loss, fatigue and loss of appetite. In the late stage of liver cirrhosis, digestive tract symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea often occur, and appetite is significantly reduced.

7. The formation of hepatic ascites. Ascites is a common symptom in the late stage of liver cirrhosis. Abdominal distension often occurs. Large amounts of fluid cause the abdomen to swell, and the abdominal wall to become tight and shiny, resembling a frog's belly. Patients have difficulty walking. A small number of patients also develop pleural effusion.

The above is an introduction to what patients with advanced liver cirrhosis look like. Patients in the early stages of liver cirrhosis are prone to fatigue, lack of energy, weakness in the limbs, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dull pain in the liver area, and a dark complexion. For patients with viral hepatitis and alcoholic hepatitis, they must pay enough attention and should go to the hospital for regular check-ups to see if they have developed liver cirrhosis.
