Brucellosis symptoms vary at different times, so don't ignore them

Brucellosis is a common disease in Northeast China. Once it occurs, it can cause great harm to human health. For this reason, the country has set up special prevention and control agencies, which has led to a good decline in its incidence rate year by year. However, we cannot relax our vigilance against it. In order to avoid harm to the body due to brucellosis, people living in pastoral areas must understand the symptoms of brucellosis so as to achieve early detection and early treatment, and avoid missing the best time for treatment due to momentary negligence.

Brucellosis symptoms are divided into two stages

1. Acute stage of brucellosis

① The onset is slow, with prominent symptoms of chills, fever, and sweating. The fever lasts an average of 2 to 3 weeks, and will recur after a few days to 2 weeks, presenting an ups and downs pattern. The fever is mostly remittent, but may also be irregular. Clothes and blankets are often soaked due to profuse sweating, and the fever subsides, which is another prominent feature of this disease.

② Joint pain, mainly in large joints, which is migratory, and a few are accompanied by redness and swelling of the joints, or muscle pain.

③ Enlarged lymph nodes, liver and spleen. Enlarged lymph nodes are mainly seen in the neck and armpits.

④Others: Men may have orchitis or epididymitis, women may suffer from oophoritis, pregnant women may have miscarriage, and lumbar neuropathy, resulting in sciatica, is also common.

2. Chronic stage of brucellosis

It may develop from the acute phase or have no acute history. Common symptoms include fatigue, sweating, headache, low fever, depression, irritability, muscle and joint pain. Epidemiologically, the disease mostly occurs in spring and summer, and the incidence rate is high in pastoral areas. Knowing the area visited, occupation, scope of contact, etc. will help with diagnosis.
