Why do gums bleed when brushing teeth? Minor illness can lead to big problems

Most people usually brush their teeth for a very short time, basically no more than 1 minute. Many people have experienced bleeding while brushing their teeth, for some people it happens occasionally, but for some people it happens frequently. But I don’t care too much about it and think it’s no big deal. There are many potential causes of bleeding gums.

The first thing to consider is whether it is low platelets or abnormal coagulation function. Go to the hospital's dental department to check your blood routine and four coagulation tests to see whether your platelets and coagulation function are normal.

If there is no blood system disease, there may be two reasons for bleeding when brushing teeth:

1. Severe lack of vitamin C can cause gums to bleed easily. It is recommended to eat more vegetables and fruits and supplement vitamin C, and the condition will gradually improve.

2. Gingivitis and periodontitis. You need to find a reliable dentist to clean your teeth and remove tartar.

If you have periodontitis, it is recommended that you (1) brush your teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush immediately after each meal, achieving two "3s", i.e. 3 times a day, brushing for 3 minutes each time and brushing vertically, or rinse your mouth with warm, lightly salted water after each meal. (2) Drugs kill periodontal bacteria. The gums can be rinsed with 3% hydrogen peroxide or 0.1% potassium permanganate solution.

If it is gingivitis, the inflammation is caused by irritation from dental plaque and tartar. The formation of dental plaque and tartar is caused by food debris and calcium accumulated in the gaps between teeth and gum pockets that are not regularly and thoroughly removed. Brushing your teeth and rinsing your mouth are the most effective ways to eliminate these causes. Chronic gingivitis is the result of not brushing your teeth and rinsing your mouth properly and regularly. A good way to prevent bleeding gums is to brush your teeth effectively in the morning and evening and rinse your mouth after meals.
