What are the symptoms of flu

Influenza is a disease that we are very likely to come into contact with in our lives. It often occurs during the change of seasons because the high humidity makes it easy for germs to spread. Many people can still distinguish the symptoms of influenza. Today, I will talk to you in more detail about the symptoms of each type of influenza.

According to the classification of influenza, the symptoms of influenza are mainly as follows:

1. Mild influenza: The onset is acute and the condition is mild. Both systemic symptoms (body aches, weakness) and respiratory symptoms (sore throat, runny nose, cough, nasal congestion, tears) are very mild.

2. Typical influenza: Symptoms include chills and fever, with body temperature as high as 39-40℃. Patients also experience headaches, body aches, weakness, dry eyes, dry throat, and mild sore throat. In addition to the above symptoms, some patients may experience sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion, sometimes accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Fever and the above symptoms usually reach a peak within 1-2 days, and the fever subsides within 3-4 days, and the symptoms disappear accordingly. Fatigue and cough may last for 1-2 weeks.

3. Gastroenteritis-type influenza: rare, with diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting as the main clinical manifestations.

What are the diagnostic items for influenza?

(A) Blood picture: total white blood cell count decreased, lymphocyte count increased relatively, and eosinophils disappeared. When combined with bacterial infection, the total white blood cell count and neutrophil granulocytes increase.

(ii) Antigen detection by immunofluorescence or immunoenzyme staining: a smear of mucosal epithelial cells from the patient's nasal wash is taken and the antigen is detected using fluorescent or enzyme-labeled influenza virus immune serum. The results are fast and highly sensitive, which helps with early diagnosis. For example, the use of monoclonal antibody detection can identify influenza A, B, and C.

(III) Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is used to measure influenza virus RNA. It can detect viral RNA directly from patient secretions and is a direct, rapid and sensitive method. Currently, the improved application of PCR-enzyme assay (PCR-EIA) is to directly detect influenza virus RNA, which is much more sensitive than virus culture and can be measured quickly and directly.

(iv) Virus isolation: The gargle fluid of the patient in the acute phase is inoculated into the amniotic sac or allantoic fluid of the chicken embryo for virus isolation.
