How to treat hepatic duct stones better

The treatment of patients with bile duct stones needs to be comprehensive, because in addition to using some basic drug treatment control, if the condition is serious, surgical treatment is required. There are two types of surgery: one is open surgery, and the other is endoscopic stone removal.

1. The treatment of intrahepatic bile duct stones is still one of the important topics that need to be studied in hepatobiliary surgery. The treatment principles of this disease are to relieve obstruction, eliminate lesions and ensure smooth drainage. These three aspects are closely linked and none of them can be missing. Relieving the obstruction caused by stones and/or stenosis is the key to surgical treatment; removing the lesions is the core of surgical treatment and is often an important means to relieve the obstruction; and unobstructed drainage is a measure to prevent recurrence of infection and regeneration of stones, but it must be based on relieving the obstruction and removing the lesions. Non-surgical treatment can only be effective if the above three basic requirements are met.

2. Extrahepatic bile duct stones are still mainly treated by surgery. There are two surgical methods, one is the commonly known laparotomy, and the other is stone removal through endoscopy.

3. Intrahepatic bile duct stones require comprehensive treatment with surgery as the main method. However, due to the limitations of technology and the level of development of medical equipment, doctors do not have a good method for treating intrahepatic stones. They can only cut open the liver tissue to remove the stones and anastomose the intrahepatic bile duct with the bile duct. However, the intrahepatic bile duct is relatively thin, so the anastomosis is small and anastomotic obstruction is inevitable. Therefore, the treatment is not accurate. Furthermore, removing liver tissue in the area blocked by bile duct stones will cause great damage to the human body regardless of whether the liver is cut open or removed.
