What are the symptoms of hepatobiliary stones?

1. Intrahepatic bile duct stones are a type of bile duct stones, which refer to stones in the bile ducts above the confluence of the left and right hepatic ducts. The early symptoms of intrahepatic bile duct stones are not obvious or even asymptomatic, so they are easily ignored by patients and not treated in time.

2. The symptoms of intrahepatic bile duct stones are very atypical. During the intervals between illnesses, there may be no symptoms or only mild upper abdominal discomfort. However, in the acute phase, symptoms of acute suppurative cholangitis or varying degrees of Charcot's triad may appear, most of which may be caused by concurrent extrahepatic bile duct stones. The main symptoms of intrahepatic bile duct stones are intermittent right upper abdominal pain accompanied by fever. When there are no symptoms of infection, the patient may feel feverish all over the body, often without obvious jaundice.

3. However, some patients may experience jaundice when bile duct infection causes obstruction of the entire bile duct system. Some patients only have mild upper abdominal discomfort and no typical symptoms of biliary infection in the early stage. In the later stage, when the stones spread throughout the intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile duct system, serious complications such as biliary cirrhosis, liver atrophy, and liver abscess may occur. Currently, the treatment for intrahepatic bile duct stones adopts non-invasive liver-preserving lithotomy, which is a professional treatment for intrahepatic bile duct stones. It has small trauma and fast recovery, and is well received by patients.
