Is natural birth good for the baby?

Childbirth is the most critical and final step for women in the late stages of pregnancy. There are two ways of giving birth: one is natural delivery, and the other is caesarean section. Natural birth is a mode of delivery advocated by doctors because, from many perspectives, it is beneficial to the child's physical health. But is natural birth good for the baby? What are they?

The baby's life in the mother's womb is like being put in a pocket with a tight rope at the opening of the pocket. This tight rope is the mother's cervix. The cervix and birth canal are made up of hard connective tissue and muscles. Normally these organs are tightly closed to prevent the baby from slipping out of the pocket during pregnancy. As the pregnancy is about to end, these hard connective tissues and muscles begin to loosen and soften under the action of labor hormones, so as to facilitate the expansion of the soft birth canal during delivery to facilitate the baby's passage.

1. Babies delivered naturally are squeezed by the contraction of the uterus and the birth canal, which squeezes out the mucus and amniotic fluid in the fetal respiratory tract, reducing the occurrence of neonatal pneumonia and suffocation.

2. During natural delivery, the fetus' lungs are exercised by the contraction of the uterus, which increases surfactant, makes it easier for the alveoli to expand, and reduces respiratory diseases after birth.

3. During natural childbirth, the mother will pass immunoglobulin G to the fetus. Therefore, newborns born naturally often have better immunity than newborns born by caesarean section.

5. The fetus delivered naturally is trained in pain, taste and touch in the birth canal, which can effectively promote the development of the fetus's vestibular function and brain, and is beneficial to its future personality and movement.

6. When a fetus delivered naturally passes through the birth canal, the head is squeezed and becomes congested, which can increase the excitability of the respiratory central nervous system in the fetus's brain and help the fetus establish normal breathing quickly after birth.
