Ureteral pain is a common urinary system disease in clinical practice. This symptom usually occurs acutely, and the main site of attack occurs in the patient's waist. Many people don’t know what ureteral pain is. This symptom may be closely related to ureteral stones. 1. Ureteral stones Ureteral stones are usually caused by kidney stones being temporarily blocked in the narrow part of the ureter during excretion. Primary ureteral stones are rare. If ureteral stones are not expelled, they may gradually grow larger where they remain. Ureteral stones are usually accompanied by obvious symptoms, such as renal colic and hematuria. Ureteral stones also often cause obstruction and hydronephrosis, all of which require emergency treatment. 2. Blood clots It is mostly caused by factors such as stones or blood clots, which lead to acute dilation of the ureter, increased peristalsis, and spasm of the ureteral smooth muscle. Urinary stones include two aspects: excessive concentration of crystals in urine and changes in the physical and chemical properties of urine. The concentration of crystals in urine increases. Normal urine often contains a variety of crystal salts, such as oxalate, phosphate, carbonate, urate, etc. These crystalline salts maintain a relative balance with colloidal substances in the urine such as mucins and nucleic acids. If the concentration of crystalline salts increases or mucopolysaccharides have quantitative or qualitative abnormalities. 3. Differential diagnosis (1) Ureteral stenosis The ureter normally has three physiological bends, which are also called narrow segments. The first narrowing is at the point where it penetrates the bladder wall; the second narrowing is at the point where it crosses the iliac artery and enters the small pelvis; the third narrowing is at the point where it penetrates the bladder wall. Ureteral stenosis refers to a condition in which part or all of the ureteral lumen becomes narrower than normal due to various reasons. Although the continuity of the lumen is not interrupted, it has caused varying degrees of upper urinary tract obstruction and hydronephrosis. (2) Ureteral obstruction Ureteral pelvic junction obstruction is a common urinary tract obstructive disease that causes hydronephrosis. The obstruction of the ureteropelvic junction prevents the urine from flowing smoothly into the ureter, which causes the emptying of the renal pelvis to be hindered and leads to the expansion of the renal collecting system. Initially, the renal pelvic smooth muscle gradually proliferates and strengthens peristalsis in an attempt to excrete urine through the distal obstruction; when the increasing peristaltic force cannot overcome the obstruction, it will lead to renal parenchymal atrophy and renal function damage. |
