What is the fastest way to stop bleeding?

Paying special attention in life can prevent diseases very well, but some accidents are unavoidable. Once an unexpected injury occurs in our lives, it is easy to lead to excessive blood loss, which will seriously affect our life safety. However, if you want better treatment, you must master the method of stopping bleeding, which can reduce the damage and danger to the body. Let's learn how to stop bleeding as quickly as possible.

What is the fastest way to stop bleeding?

A. General hemostasis method: for bleeding from small wounds. The affected area needs to be rinsed and disinfected with saline, then covered with multiple layers of sterile gauze and tied tightly with a bandage. Note: If there is a lot of hair on the affected area, it should be cut or shaved during treatment.

B. Finger pressure hemostasis method: only applicable to first aid of arterial bleeding in the head, face, neck and limbs. Be careful not to use pressure for too long.

▲Bleeding on the top of the head: In front of the ear on the injured side, press the superficial temporal artery with your thumb 1.5 cm above and in front of the mandibular tragus.

▲Bleeding in the head and neck: Place four fingers together and aim them at the inner side of the middle section of the sternocleidomastoid muscle in the neck, and press the common carotid artery towards the cervical spine. Be careful not to compress the common carotid arteries on both sides at the same time to avoid cerebral ischemia and necrosis. The pressure time should not be too long to avoid danger.

▲Bleeding in the upper arm: Raise the affected limb with one hand, and use the four fingers of the other hand to press the brachial artery on the inner side of the middle part of the upper arm.

▲Bleeding from the palm: Raise the affected limb and use the thumbs of both hands to press the ulnar and radial arteries at the wrist respectively.

▲Bleeding from the thigh: Slightly below the groin, use the thumbs of both hands to press the femoral artery backwards.

▲Foot bleeding: Use the thumbs of both hands to compress the dorsalis pedis artery and the posterior carotid artery between the medial malleolus and Achilles tendon respectively.

C. Flexion and padding method for hemostasis: When the forearm or calf is bleeding, you can put gauze pads, cotton balls, towels, clothes and other items in the elbow and knee pits, flex the joints, and use a triangular bandage to fix them in an 8-shape. However, it cannot be used by those with fractures or joint dislocations.

D. Rubber tourniquet to stop bleeding: The commonly used tourniquet is a rubber tube about three feet long. The method is: with your palm facing up, hold one end of the tourniquet with your thumb and index finger, tighten it with one hand, wrap it around the limb twice, clamp the end of the tourniquet with your middle and index fingers, pull it down along the limb with force, and press down the "remaining head" to prevent it from slipping. Be careful to use a pad when using a tourniquet and do not apply it directly to the skin. Loosen the tourniquet for 2-3 minutes every 45 minutes, and slowly replace it with acupressure when loosening it.

E. Tightening hemostasis method: fold the triangular bandage into a belt shape, tie a slipknot, take a small stick and pass it through the outside of the belt to tighten it, and insert the tightened small stick into the small circle of the slipknot to fix it.

F. Packing hemostasis method: Stuff and press the sterilized gauze, cotton pad, and first aid kit into the wound, and wrap it with a bandage or triangular bandage, with the tightness appropriate to achieve hemostasis.

Bleeding occurs in different parts of the body, and the methods of stopping bleeding are different. The above is an introduction to how to stop bleeding quickly. If we master more of this common sense, we can provide timely relief when we have accidental injuries to the body. In addition to timely relief, we must go to the hospital for treatment in time.
