What are the maintenance methods for pearls

Pearls are an item that many people like to buy. They can be made into decorations, beauty products, etc., and their application range is extremely wide. However, it is difficult to buy real pearls. Generally, pearls are artificially raised. The price of this type of pearls is not high. The purchased pearls must be maintained regularly, otherwise the color of the pearls will change. At this time, patients need to understand the maintenance methods of pearls. So what are the maintenance methods of pearls?

The chemical composition of pearls is mainly CaCO3. Its chemical stability is poor, and it may produce chemical reactions when it comes into contact with acids, alkalis and other chemical reagents. Therefore, when wearing pearls, try to avoid contact with sweat, soapy water, perfume, hairspray, nail polish, etc. Otherwise, the beautiful pearl luster on the surface will become dull over time, and the pearls will turn yellow and deteriorate.

Pearls have a low hardness (3.5-4), and any material harder than them, such as iron, glass, etc., can scratch them. Even dust in the air can scratch pearls over time, so avoid friction with hard objects when wearing and storing pearls.

Pearls should be cleaned frequently in a neutral detergent, especially in hot summer. The purpose is to keep the surface clean and also to replenish moisture to the pearls during dry seasons.

1. Stay away from the kitchen

There are tiny pores on the surface of pearls, so it is not advisable to let them absorb pollutants in the air. Pearls will absorb substances such as hairspray and perfume. So don't wear pretty pearls to perm your hair, and be careful in the kitchen. Don't wear your beautiful pearls while cooking, as steam and smoke can penetrate into the pearls and turn them yellow.

2. Sheepskin service

After wearing pearls (especially on hot days), you must wipe them clean before putting them away. It is best to use sheepskin instead of tissue paper, because the friction of some tissue paper may wear the pearls.

3. Stay away from clean water

Do not use water to clean your pearl necklace. Water can get into the small holes in the beads, making them difficult to wipe away and possibly causing fermentation inside, and the bead thread may turn green. If you sweat a lot while wearing it, wipe it off carefully with a soft, damp towel and store it after air drying.

4. Air is needed

Do not keep pearls in a safe for a long time, and do not seal them in plastic bags. Pearls need fresh air, so take them out and wear them every few months to let them breathe. Pearls will easily turn yellow if kept in a box for a long time. (This is what it means when a person grows old and his beauty fades.)

5. Bead necklace maintenance

Don't hang the bead necklace for a long time, as the chain will become deformed over time.

It is a good idea to tie the string into a knot between each bead for a long bead chain. This prevents beads from rubbing against each other. Even if the string breaks, the beads will not scatter everywhere and you will only lose one bead at most.

6. Replacement of line every 3 years

It is best to restrung your pearls every three years, although this also depends on how often you wear them. Dirt that enters the small holes of the beads will generate friction, causing the nylon thread to break, and the force at the broken point will be close to the button.

There are six main ways to maintain pearls. After patients have mastered these six maintenance methods, they can follow these methods to maintain the pearls. If they don’t know how to maintain them themselves, they can take the pearls to the store and have professionals handle them to restore their brightness. Everyone knows that when we wear jewelry every day, body sweat will affect the cleanliness of the jewelry. If it is stained with sweat or oil, its brightness will be affected, and it will also affect the patient's skin.
