How to choose a pm2.5 mask

With the development of science and technology, humans release more and more harmful substances into the air, and the air quality is becoming worse and worse, so the word haze often appears in our daily lives. Haze is commonly known as PM2.5. The higher the PM2.5 value in the air, the worse the air quality is. It seriously affects our health. At this time, PM2.5 masks become indispensable. How to choose a PM2.5 mask?

1. The common absorbent gauze masks on the market can block large particles, but cannot block particles with a diameter of less than 5 microns, let alone PM2.5.

2. Disposable medical masks are not suitable for preventing PM2.5. Disposable medical masks are made of hygienic thin non-woven fabric and are mainly used for daily hygiene protection by medical staff. Generally, there are three layers, the inner and outer layers are filter paper, and the middle layer is non-woven fabric.

3. Absorbent gauze masks are not suitable for preventing PM2.5. It is made of absorbent gauze, which is soft and breathable. It is used for general sanitary protection. It has different specifications such as 12 layers, 16 layers, 18 layers and 24 layers. This type of mask is made of different layers of gauze folded and sewn. The particles are blocked by layers of gauze, but the blocking effect is very poor. It can be used for keeping warm.

4. Generally, cotton masks are not suitable for preventing PM2.5. The inside of the mask is made of two layers of cotton cloth with a layer of cotton wool sandwiched between them. This type of mask usually only has the function of keeping warm, and the claimed dust-proofness refers to larger dust particles, which is not very suitable for foggy and haze weather.

5. Professional N95 mask for protection against PM2.5. "N" means it is not suitable for oily particles; "95" means that under the testing conditions specified by the NIOSH standard, the filtration efficiency reaches 95%. That is, the N95 mask is tested with 0.3 micron sodium chloride particles, and the blocking rate must be above 95%. When the tightness is tested on the wearer's face, it is ensured that air can enter and exit the mask when it fits closely to the edge of the face. The "N95 mask" can block particles of 0.3 microns, so it can also protect against 2.5 micron particles.

In order to more effectively reduce the harm caused by PM2.5 to us, we must correctly choose professional PM2.5 masks to prevent harmful substances in the air from entering the lungs through the mouth and nose as we breathe. Ordinary masks cannot filter out such harmful substances. In addition, you should avoid going out for various outdoor activities in severe haze weather.
