What are the benefits of hysterosalpingography?

Some young couples, after having enough of their own world, want to enjoy the happiness of a family of three, but find that no matter how hard they try, they cannot get pregnant. In desperation, they go to the hospital for examination. If you are looking for a female problem, your doctor may recommend a hysterosalpingogram. So, what is a salpingogram for? What are the benefits?

Hysterosalpingography is one of the methods used to check whether the fallopian tubes are blocked. Fallopian tube insufflation was a traditional examination method in the past, but it is no longer used in major regular hospitals. Experts at the Infertility Hospital pointed out that hysterosalpingography is favored by patients because it causes little damage and has certain therapeutic effects.

What is the role of salpingography?

1. The fallopian tube is open but not smooth: there is resistance when pushing the contrast agent, and the contrast agent enters the pelvic cavity slowly. After stopping the injection of the contrast agent for more than ten minutes, the contrast agent can be seen diffusing in the pelvic cavity, but the diffusion is poor.

2. Hydrosalpinx: Contrast medium accumulates in the fallopian tube, causing the fallopian tube to abnormally dilate into a sac or sausage shape, which is more obvious at the distal end and is often accompanied by obstruction of the fimbria of the fallopian tube. There is generally no diffusion of contrast agent in the pelvic cavity.

3. Patency of the fallopian tubes: The uterus is filled and shaped like an inverted triangle. The fallopian tubes on both sides are bent like worms on both sides of the uterus. The contrast agent first fills the narrow part of the proximal end of the fallopian tube, then quickly fills the end of the ampulla, and then diffuses from the fimbria to the pelvic cavity.

Warm reminder: Hysterosalpingography is now a common means of examining fallopian tube diseases. It is very useful for women. It not only allows patients to clearly see the location of the lesions, but also helps doctors to treat more accurately.

Hysterosalpingography is a very common method for examining fallopian tube diseases. It can clearly detect abnormalities in the fallopian tubes and help doctors determine treatment plans. Moreover, if it is a minor problem, minor blockages in the fallopian tubes can be unblocked during the examination, combining examination and treatment in one.
