Where are the mandibular lymph nodes?

Under normal circumstances, lymph nodes exist in the human body in a way that people cannot directly perceive, and there are about several hundred lymph nodes in the human body. Lymph nodes in every region are distributed around the blood vessels of the human body because lymph can effectively resist the invasion of foreign viruses into the human body. The lymph nodes in the neck and behind the ears are the most likely to have serious problems. There are also some lymph nodes in the mandible. Where are the mandibular lymph nodes mainly distributed?

Submandibular lymph nodes are one of the structural tissues of the human body. They are located in the mandibular space, on the inner side of the lower edge of the left and right mandibular angles, in front of the submandibular gland, and are covered by the lateral end of the parotid gland opening. They are about 2 to 3 mm and 1.5 to 2.5 mm in size. A normal person has about 300 to 600 lymph nodes, which are clustered around blood vessels in the body's depressions and hidden places along the lymphatic vessels, such as the neck, axilla, groin, supratrochlear, fossa, retroperitoneum, hilar and hepatic areas. Lymph nodes are round or oval bodies with a diameter of 0.1 to 2.5 cm. They are soft, smooth, painless and movable under normal circumstances. Except for 1 to 2 nodes that can be touched under the jaw, axilla and groin, they are generally not easy to touch.

Swelling of the submandibular lymph nodes due to inflammation of the oral cavity and pharynx. Lymph node enlargement refers to a condition in which the diameter of the lymph nodes exceeds 1.5 cm, the appearance changes, and the texture is abnormal. The symptoms may be acute lymphadenitis, or milder cases where the local lymph nodes are slightly swollen and slightly tender. It often occurs in the submandibular area, neck, armpits, groin, etc. It generally does not require treatment and can heal on its own. In more serious cases, the local lymph nodes are obviously enlarged and accompanied by redness, swelling, heat, pain, and possibly fever. If not treated in time, acute lymphadenitis may develop into an abscess.

reason

It refers to the submandibular lymph nodes that swell due to inflammation due to stimulation from bacteria and their toxins and can be clearly felt by hand, often accompanied by symptoms of pain. There are many causes of the disease. When an infection occurs in a certain part of the body, bacteria pass through the lymph nodes with the lymph fluid, which can cause swelling and pain in the lymph nodes. When the body suffers from malignant tumors, they often metastasize along the lymphatic vessels and stay in the lymph nodes to divide and proliferate, causing the lymph nodes to swell.

examine

The main clinical manifestations include fullness in the submandibular area, enlarged lymph nodes and tenderness.

1. There may be other primary infection foci such as respiratory tract infection, oral inflammation, furuncle, skin lesion infection, etc.

2. Local lymph nodes are swollen, painful, or red, with a sense of fluctuation when touched, often accompanied by fever, loss of appetite, etc.

3. Perform lymph node biopsy if necessary to exclude malignant tumor infiltration.
