Hyperbaric oxygen for nerve recovery

Hyperbaric oxygen for nerve recovery

The brain nerves control every move of the human body. Any problem with the nerves will have a very big impact on the body. When the brain is hit or severely lacks oxygen, some nerves will be damaged. The damaged nerves can no longer control the body, and the human body will have symptoms such as uncontrolled limbs. In order to improve it, the damaged nerves must be restored. So what is the effect of hyperbaric oxygen on the recovery of nerves?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is of great significance for neurological recovery, especially for patients with carbon monoxide poisoning, cerebral ischemia, and brain tissue hypoxia. Because hyperbaric oxygen therapy can improve brain metabolism, restore the function of brain tissue, and reduce cerebral edema. It has certain therapeutic significance for patients with acute cerebral infarction and acute cerebral hemorrhage. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy also has certain contraindications. For example, patients with bullae, pneumothorax, tuberculosis, severe hypertension, mental illness, recurrent epileptic seizures or severe exhaustion are not suitable for hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

At present, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been carried out in major hospitals and has a wide range of uses. It is mainly used to treat various postoperative craniocerebral trauma, cerebral infarction or tinnitus, and can have a good effect. Its purposes include:

1. Improve the patient's microcirculation, promote the early recovery of neuronal cells, sometimes reverse the damaged nerve cells, and significantly improve the patient's clinical symptoms;

2. It can promote the rapid growth of nerve fibers and repair of myelin sheath, save the patient's nerve function, and minimize the patient's sequelae. For patients with craniocerebral trauma, patients with hypoxia or patients with obvious edema after surgery, early hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatment can be considered, which can significantly help improve the patient's prognosis, quality of life, and cure rate.

Hyperbaric oxygen does have a certain positive effect on nerve recovery. The treatment course is 4-6 times, and each course is 10 days. You need to rest in between the courses to avoid overoxidation. Generally, 2-3 courses should be able to see whether there is any effect, because rehabilitation treatment is a comprehensive treatment. A single treatment method will not be ideal.
