What causes eye fatigue and dryness?

The eye is one of the most important sensory organs of the human body, and it is also the sensory organ that can most easily make people feel discomfort or disease. Eye fatigue and dryness is a common eye disease, which seriously affects people's work and study. When you concentrate on looking at the computer and TV, you will feel very tired eyes and blink unconsciously. So, what causes eye fatigue and dryness?

Dry eyes can cause pain in the neck, shoulders and other corresponding parts of the body, and can also cause and aggravate various eye diseases.

Abnormal refractive power of the eyes: When suffering from farsightedness, myopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia, the eyes need to use a lot of adjustment power when looking at distant and near objects, which makes the eyes overly tired.

Symptoms of Eyestrain

Overconvergence: When myopia is not corrected, overconvergence can occur due to reading at too close a distance. Overconvergence can be accompanied by overaccommodation, which increases the degree of myopia and requires a closer reading distance. This creates a vicious cycle, leading to eyestrain. Constantly changing focus: When the image cannot be focused on one point under astigmatism symptoms, it is necessary to use the regulatory function of the ciliary muscles in the eye to constantly change the focus. Excessive use of regulation, the ciliary muscles are also related to the nerves in the head. Over time, fatigue of the ciliary muscles will lead to corresponding nerve pain.

Eye diseases: Blurred vision caused by corneal clouding, lens opacity and other eye diseases can also easily lead to eye fatigue.

Abnormal eye development: For example, the distance between the two pupils is large, which makes it difficult for the two eyes to converge and easily leads to eye fatigue.

Physical constitution and lifestyle factors: such as lack of exercise, malnutrition, frequent insomnia, irregular life, excessive smoking and drinking, and lack of attention to eye hygiene, are all likely to cause eye fatigue.

Age factor: People over 40 years old have eyes that start to age, but if they do not wear reading glasses in time, they are prone to eye fatigue.

Environmental factors: insufficient lighting in the workplace or study area; small handwriting or work objects; unclear distinction between target and background; long reading, writing and working hours; variable viewing distance (such as reading, writing and working on a vehicle or ship), etc. These can cause eye strain and excessive use of accommodation power. Overloaded eyes can not only lead to eye fatigue, but can also cause myopia and other diseases.

Surveys have confirmed that 90% of people who work in front of a computer for more than three hours a day suffer from dry eyes. In the next five years, the number of patients suffering from dry eyes will increase at a rate of more than 10% per year.

Wearing contact lenses for a long time can also cause dry eyes, because contact lenses easily absorb moisture, causing dehydration of the eye surface.

There is currently no cure for dry eyes, and artificial tears are mostly used clinically to relieve symptoms. Artificial tears come in two forms: aqueous solutions and pastes. Different artificial tears are used depending on the severity of the symptoms. Once the drug is discontinued, symptoms often recur.

People who face the computer for a long time should pay attention to diet conditioning, eat more soy products, fish, milk, green vegetables, walnuts, cabbage, tomatoes, etc. Blink hard at least three hundred times a day, which can help clean the eyes, and do more eye massage. Be careful not to use your eyes for too long, and when resting, try to keep your eyes facing the upper left or right.
