What to do if Eustachian tube inflammation is accompanied by ear pain

In daily life, many patients are prone to tinnitus and ear swelling. Generally, the main cause of these two conditions is Eustachian tube inflammation, which has a relatively large impact on our lives. In severe cases, it is easy for us to lose our hearing, so we must receive timely treatment. So, how should Eustachian tube inflammation and ear pain be treated? Let’s take a brief look at it!

1. Self-blowing method

This method is simple and easy and basically does not cause any damage to the body. As early as the Ming Dynasty in my country, Cao Shiyan proposed this method in "Secrets of Life Preservation": "Sit with a calm breath, close your mouth, clench your teeth, pinch your nostrils with two fingers of your spleen and intestines, open your eyes, let the air flow into the ears and orifices, you will feel a buzzing sound, do this for two or three days, until the orifices are open." In fact, it is the method of blowing your nose. Just pinch your nostrils with two fingers and don't relax. Once you relax your fingers, the snot will be blown out. If you don't relax, the high air pressure in the nasopharynx will be maintained. When high air pressure opens the Eustachian tube, you feel air flowing into the middle ear cavity, creating a feeling of fullness. If you drop some 1% ephedrine into the nasal cavity beforehand and then blow open the Eustachian tube, it will be easier to succeed.

2. Rubber Ball Blowing Method

This is a more commonly used method of blowing with an instrument, namely the Politzer method (Healthren.cn). Ask the patient to take a mouthful of water, and the operator will insert the olive head of the front end of the Polytzer ball into one of the patient's anterior nostrils, and press the other anterior nostril with fingers, and tell the patient to swallow the water. While swallowing, the operator will quickly squeeze the rubber ball. When the patient swallows, the soft palate presses against the posterior wall of the pharynx, and the passages between the nasal cavity and the throat are closed. At this time, the Eustachian tube should be open, and the air pressed into the nasal cavity from the bulb gathers in the nasopharynx with greater pressure and can squeeze into the Eustachian tube and tympanic cavity.

3. Metal duct blowing method

It is also called "Euclidean tube blowing method". A metal catheter is gently inserted into the patient's nasal cavity. The operator uses feel to aim at the pharyngeal opening of the Eustachian tube, and then uses a rubber ball to blow air into the catheter. This method creates greater pressure and is easier to blow through the blocked Eustachian tube. However, if the operation is not done properly, the patient's eardrum may be ruptured easily.

Don’t listen to music that is too loud, otherwise it will have a certain impact on our eardrums. Patients should not eat spicy and greasy food in their daily life. Eating too much spicy and greasy food can easily aggravate the inflammation, so patients must pay more attention. This is very important!
