What is vitiligo?

Vitiligo is a common disease, mainly caused by the degeneration of melanocytes in the skin, but the specific cause is still unclear. The disease can be seen in various parts of the body, such as fingers, backs of hands, wrists, arms, face, neck, around genitals, etc. There are more young female patients, and signs of the disease can also be seen in the vulva. So, what exactly is vitiligo?

Vitiligo is called "vitiligo" or "white spot wind" in traditional Chinese medicine. It is a skin disease in which pigment is lost. The local skin begins to turn white without any subjective symptoms, gradually expands, has clear boundaries, a smooth surface, and does not desquamate. The biggest characteristic of vitiligo is that it spreads

The cause of this disease is still unclear. Recent studies have shown that this is related to the following factors:

1. Genetic theory

Vitiligo can occur in twins and families, indicating that heredity plays an important role in the onset of vitiligo. Studies have shown that vitiligo has incomplete penetrance and there are multiple pathogenic sites on the gene.

2. Autoimmunity theory

Vitiligo can be combined with autoimmune diseases such as thyroid disease, diabetes, chronic adrenal insufficiency, pernicious anemia, rheumatoid arthritis, malignant melanoma, etc. Specific antibodies to various organs can also be detected in the serum, such as anti-thyroid antibodies, anti-gastric parietal cell antibodies, anti-adrenal gland antibodies, anti-parathyroid antibodies, anti-smooth muscle antibodies, anti-melanocyte antibodies, etc.

3. Psychological and neurochemical theory

Mental factors are closely related to the onset of vitiligo. Most patients suffer from mental trauma, excessive tension, depression or frustration during the onset or development of skin lesions. The degeneration of nerve endings in the white spots also supports the neurochemical theory.

1. Strengthen physical fitness: Mental relaxation, long-term anxiety, tension, unhappy mood, etc. can all trigger this disease, so patients should be cheerful, open-minded and optimistic.

2. Pay attention to the environment: a damp residence, rain, cold wind, exposure to the sun, friction, etc. may induce vitiligo.

3. Prevent infection: frostbite, burns and other injuries may cause vitiligo.

4. Consolidation treatment: After the patient with vitiligo has recovered clinically, their immune ability and microcirculation disorders have not yet returned to normal. Therefore, after clinical recovery, that is, after the white spots have completely disappeared, another course of consolidation treatment should be performed.

Patients with vitiligo should choose skin care products that suit them. Since the patient's face has already suffered skin damage, they should pay more attention and choose mild skin care products containing plant essences to relieve skin damage. Patients can use facial masks to moisturize. You should also exercise more and try to avoid colds, fevers, pharyngitis and other diseases.
