What should you do if you get alcohol poisoning?

During festivals, gatherings with relatives and friends, visits by distinguished guests, business entertainment, etc., many friends like to have a few drinks with friends or family, but if they can't control themselves, they will drink too much and lose control, leading to alcohol poisoning. Many people are at a loss when they encounter alcohol poisoning among their relatives and friends, resulting in irreversible consequences. Below I will tell you about the first aid methods.

First aid for alcohol poisoning:

Because the phenomenon of mild to moderate acute alcohol poisoning is so common, most drinkers and people around them do not care and think that they can just let the drunk person sleep. Unfortunately, there are many examples of people dying from excessive drinking, especially those who already have chronic diseases. If they do not pay attention to moderation and get drunk every time they drink, they are more likely to have accidents. Therefore, as long as the drinker shows the above-mentioned symptoms of acute alcohol poisoning, he should be carefully observed and provide timely on-site home first aid.

The severity of acute alcohol poisoning symptoms is related to the amount of alcohol consumed and individual sensitivity. The lethal dose for most adults is 250-500 ml of pure alcohol (the alcohol concentration of liquor is 50-60%).

For those who are mildly drunk: Let them lie still, preferably on their side, to prevent aspiration pneumonia. Keep them warm and give them strong tea or coffee. For treatment, you can use an appropriate amount of citrus peel, dry it, grind it into fine powder, add a little salt, and take it with warm water, or take 50-100 grams of mung beans and boil it into soup to drink.

For those with severe alcohol poisoning: Use chopsticks or the handle of a spoon to press the root of the tongue to induce vomiting quickly, and then wash the stomach with 1% sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) solution.

Special reminder: A normal person's breathing is even, 16 to 20 times per minute. If the patient's breathing slows down or becomes irregular, or if convulsions, incontinence, etc. occur, these are dangerous symptoms and you should call 120 for help immediately and send the patient to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment. Naloxone, infusion, and other treatments are commonly used in hospitals. If the poisoned person is unconscious, he should be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately.

After reading the above first aid knowledge about alcohol poisoning, it is also a wake-up call for us. Drinking is extremely harmful to the human body, so it is best for everyone to drink less. If you find someone around you suffering from alcohol poisoning, don't panic. First, determine the level of alcohol poisoning and then make decisions based on the patient's condition.
