What causes gastric bleeding and erosion?

Gastric bleeding itself is a relatively serious disease, and sometimes it occurs at the same time as other diseases, such as gastric bleeding and gastric erosion. These two diseases often occur at the same time in a patient, making them quite troublesome to treat. Moreover, such patients often encounter some critical situations. So, how do gastric bleeding and erosion occur? What are the specific causes?

(I) Exogenous factors Certain drugs such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs aspirin, phenylbutazone, indomethacin, adrenal corticosteroids, certain antibiotics, alcohol, etc. can damage the gastric mucosal barrier, leading to increased mucosal permeability, hydrogen ions in gastric juice back into the gastric mucosa, causing gastric mucosal erosion and bleeding. Adrenal corticosteroids can increase the secretion of hydrochloric acid and pepsin, reduce gastric mucus secretion, and slow down the renewal rate of gastric mucosal epithelial cells, leading to this disease.

(ii) Endogenous factors include severe infection, severe trauma, intracranial hypertension, severe burns, major surgery, shock, excessive tension and fatigue, etc. Under stress, the sympathetic nerves and vagus nerves can be excited. The former causes spasm and contraction of gastric mucosal blood vessels, reducing blood flow, while the latter causes submucosal arteriovenous short circuits to open, aggravating mucosal ischemia and hypoxia, leading to gastric mucosal epithelial damage, erosion and bleeding. Severe shock can cause the release of 5-hydroxytryptamine and histamine. The former stimulates gastric parietal cells to release lysosomes, directly damaging the gastric mucosa, while the latter increases the secretion of pepsin and gastric acid and damages the gastric mucosal barrier.

Patients with gastric bleeding and erosion must pay attention to their diet and avoid eating any irritating foods, including chili peppers, coffee, alcohol, etc. At the same time, you should also avoid eating acidic foods, such as oranges, tangerines, etc. When eating, you must pay attention to the speed of eating, do not put too much pressure on the stomach, and chew slowly.
