The reasons why tinnitus is getting worse and its treatment methods

We all know that eyes are the windows to the soul. Once our eyes can no longer see, our souls will also be hurt. However, what I am talking about today is not the eyes but an organ that is as important as the ears. That is the ears. The ears are the basis for us to communicate with others. We can use our ears to collect information. When our ears can no longer hear, many aspects of our lives will be affected. How should we protect our ears? Today I will talk to you about the reasons why tinnitus is becoming more and more serious and the treatment methods. I hope it will be helpful to you.

Causes of tinnitus: There are many causes of tinnitus, common ear diseases include: 1. Lesions of the external ear and middle ear: such as cerumen obstruction, Eustachian tube inflammation, otitis media, otosclerosis, etc., tinnitus is usually not serious and can disappear after treatment of the cause; 2. Lesions of the inner ear labyrinth: such as Meniere's disease, ototoxic drug damage, noise stimulation, etc., tinnitus is often more severe; 3. Lesions of the auditory nerve: such as acoustic neuritis and acoustic neuroma. The latter has progressive tinnitus and is accompanied by symptoms such as headache and dizziness; 4. Central lesions: such as lesions of the cochlear nerve nucleus and the auditory center, which can cause persistent tinnitus. Otogenic tinnitus is often accompanied by hearing loss.

Tinnitus can be treated through specialized examinations by the ENT department, and a brain CT scan if necessary, in an effort to find the cause. Only by treating the cause can better results be achieved. Common non-surgical treatments include:

Drug treatment 1. Sedation and antispasmodic: Lidocaine 100 mg plus 5-10 ml of normal saline is slowly pushed intravenously (3-5 minutes), 1/day, 7 days as a course of treatment, rest for one week and repeat the course. This drug is effective in treating tinnitus, but the effect is short-lived. It is especially ideal for paroxysmal tinnitus. You can also take carbamazepine for treatment under the guidance of a doctor. The drug's effectiveness is reported to be 80-90%, but it may cause side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and nausea, which may disappear after reducing the dosage. Long-term high-dose use may cause leukopenia and liver and kidney damage, and blood counts and liver and kidney function should be checked regularly. It is usually used when other treatments are ineffective and should be used with caution in the elderly.

Masking therapy is the use of a masker to produce a masking signal with a frequency close to the patient's tinnitus sound to mask and suppress the tinnitus. When the masking sound is removed, the tinnitus is reduced or disappears, which is called "aftereffect suppression." Long-term persistence can gradually extend the intervals between tinnitus attacks, shorten the duration of attacks, or even eliminate them. There are three commonly used tinnitus maskers: 1. Tinnitus masker, 2. Hearing aid, 3. Tinnitus device. Choose according to the patient's condition.

The above are the reasons why tinnitus becomes more and more serious and the treatment methods. You are all clear about it. Finally, I wish everyone can have a healthy body.
