Each of us has various habits. When a person persists in doing something for more than 21 days, then it becomes a habit. We cannot deny that the power of habit is great. Good habits lead us to success step by step. So how powerful is the power of habit? Let us now take a closer look at how we can better develop good habits.

The first thing to do is to demystify habit formation. In the eyes of some people, good habits cannot be developed without perseverance and arduous efforts. They are afraid of hardship and frustration, and cannot persevere, so they do not develop good habits. Over time, an illusion has developed that only successful people have good habits, and that ordinary people are not worthy of talking about good habits. Recently, I read an article written by a Korean, the gist of which is that success is actually not difficult. The article says that when successful people share their experiences with young people who aspire to be successful, they often emphasize how tortuous and difficult their road to success was, thus scaring off young people. In fact, in real life, everyone feels successful every day, such as solving a difficult math problem or coming up with a good idea. If we put all these feelings of success together, everyone can succeed. Success is not as difficult as we imagine. It was this paper that inspired the Koreans' fighting spirit for success, leading to Korea's economic boom in the 1960s and 1970s. I think habit formation is similar to the pursuit of success. As long as we exercise consciously, each of us will develop good habits.

Secondly, the formation of habits depends on repeated practice. Wei Shusheng, a famous education reformer, once said that if the same thing is repeated 72 times, it will become a pattern. A teacher was influenced by Wei Shusheng's writing style and started to write a self-designed diary every day. In less than a month, he felt that writing had become a spiritual need like eating and dressing. Sometimes when I go out and don’t write in my diary, I feel empty inside. I must make up for it when I have time and pay off yesterday’s debt. Choose what kind of behavioral habits you want to develop, and then insist on repeating them regularly. Through repetition, you will stimulate your interest, learn something, and the more you do, the more you want to do it. Finally, you will reach the point where you "can't stop". Some people insist on keeping a diary for their entire lives, purely out of habit.

Third, the earlier you develop good habits, the better. Precisely because habits have tremendous inertia, the earlier good habits are cultivated, the better. Because each of us may form some bad habits inadvertently. Some bad habits are not a big deal and just require a little attention. However, some bad habits are fatal and may affect some people's future and even lifelong happiness. For example, some people have the habit of gossiping about other people and are often visited by others, which makes them feel uneasy and causes family discord. Once a bad habit is formed, it becomes extremely difficult to correct it. It will manifest itself without your noticing, causing you headaches and making you feel annoyed. For example, some comrades have a strong local accent, and even though they try to speak Mandarin, sometimes their local accent will slip through if they are not careful. Therefore, a plan to cultivate good habits should be made when children are young.
