The area where the cupping was done is itchy

There are many ways to treat the human body in traditional Chinese medicine. Two of them seem scary. One is cupping and the other is moxibustion. However, these two methods have been proven through a lot of practice to have very good therapeutic effects on the human body. Cupping is mainly used to remove moisture and toxins from the human body. But is it normal to feel itchy in the area after cupping?

1. How to deal with itching after cupping

1.1. External application of anti-allergic drugs

For normal itching, you can let it heal freely. If the itching is severe, you can apply some anti-allergic drugs to help relieve the itching. Before applying the medicine, you can clean it first and then disinfect the area with iodine, so that the medicine will be more effective.

1.2. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables

Fresh fruits and vegetables contain more minerals and vitamins, which can accelerate tissue cell repair and promote wound healing, thus shortening the duration of skin itching.

2. Why does the skin itch after cupping?

But some of them are caused by allergies to the material of the jars, most of which are porcelain jars or bamboo jars, especially bamboo medicine jars. Some patients will experience allergies due to the fumigation of the medicine. Generally, glass tubes will not cause allergic reactions, but if the mouth of the cup is too hot or the tube is pulled for a long time, it will cause poor local blood circulation, redness, swelling, blisters, and even ulcers. After cupping, the marks from the cupping will generally fade away in 3-5 days. Many people will feel itchy on the second day. This is normal. It is the process of repairing the damaged tissues of the extremities. Don't worry.

3. Precautions after cupping

3.1. It is easy to catch a cold if you take a bath after cupping

It is not advisable to take a bath after cupping. Many people who like to take a bath in the bathhouse often say "cupping and bathing, neither is less important". Indeed, warm bath water and warm cupping, take a bath after taking a bath, and then cupping, take a bath after cupping, it feels comfortable just thinking about it. But you really have to pay attention to the order. You can cupping after taking a shower, but you must not take a shower immediately after cupping. After cupping, the skin is in a damaged state and is very fragile. Taking a bath at this time can easily cause skin damage and inflammation. If you take a cold shower, your skin will be easily exposed to cold because the pores are open. Therefore, you must not take a shower immediately after cupping.

3.2. Long-term cupping can cause skin infection

Many people say that cupping takes at least half an hour. Some people believe that the effect of cupping can only be reflected after the blisters are pulled out, especially some elderly people who hold this view. Cupping varies according to the size, material, and intensity of negative pressure of the cup. However, it is generally advisable to take no more than ten minutes from the time the fire is lit to the time the tank is opened. Because the main principle of cupping lies in negative pressure rather than time. If the cupping time is too long under high negative pressure until blisters appear, it will not only damage the skin, but may also cause skin infection.
