Treatment for deafness

Treatment for deafness

We all know that some people around us cannot hear any sound, which is what we often call deafness. Deafness brings great inconvenience and trouble to ourselves and others. Many people think that deafness is congenital and cannot be cured. In fact, this understanding is wrong. Deafness can be cured. Let us learn about the treatment of deafness.

Treatment:

1. Drug treatment: Based on various data and experience, it is preliminarily believed that in the early stages of sensorineural hearing loss, such as recent deafness caused by various viral infections and the use of ototoxic drugs, deafness of unknown causes, etc., drug treatment can be used in the early stages. Relevant people have reported that 20% of patients can restore hearing through early medication. If the medical history exceeds 2 years and medication is ineffective, there is no need to use medication for congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The main drugs used for sensorineural hearing loss are neurotrophic drugs, coenzyme A, cytochrome C, ATP, cell growth peptides, vasodilators, B vitamins, vitamin C, etc., all of which play a certain role in restoring hearing in such patients.

2. Surgical treatment: There are two concepts of surgical treatment. One is to perform surgery to place an artificial electronic cochlear implant (which will be described later) to allow the patient to hear sounds and learn speech. The other is the surgical treatment of intracranial space-occupying lesions that cause sensorineural hearing loss, such as acoustic neuroma, cerebellopontine angle tumor, etc. The tumor can be removed through surgery to restore hearing. In addition, sensorineural hearing loss caused by hematoma and temporal bone fracture caused by craniocerebral trauma compressing the auditory nerve also requires surgery to completely remove the lesions so that the auditory nerve is not compressed. If the auditory nerve is ruptured, an acoustic nerve anastomosis can be performed to restore hearing.

3. Choose hearing aids to compensate for hearing: The most effective and successful method for treating deaf people and deaf children with sensorineural hearing loss is to wear hearing aids. It can solve the obstacles to communication with others, restore self-confidence, and develop physical and mental health. It is even more important for deaf children. With hearing aids, hearing and speech can be developed and utilized, so that they can be deaf but not dumb and walk out of the silent world.

The above content introduces us to how to treat deafness. We know that there are many different treatment methods. You can also share this article with those deaf patients. Even if it cannot be completely cured, it can bring warmth and health to others and bring them new hope. I hope the above article is helpful to you.
