What are the side effects of excessive vitamin C

I believe that all female friends know the importance of vitamin C in whitening skin and fading spots. In order to make themselves whiter, many women will supplement vitamin C separately. However, eating too much of anything will always have certain side effects on the body, and vitamin C is no exception. If you take too much vitamin C, there will also be side effects. What are the specific side effects of excessive vitamin C?

1. Diarrhea: After taking an overdose or long-term use of vitamin C, the frequency of bowel movements increases significantly, the stool becomes thinner, and the shape, color, and odor change. It contains pus, blood, mucus, undigested food, fat, or becomes yellow water, green paste, and has a sour odor. Long-term use of vitamin C is very likely to cause the above side effects. Taking vitamin C scientifically will greatly reduce the occurrence of diarrhea.

2. The side effects of vitamin C also include headaches, frequent urination, flushed and shiny skin, and vomiting. If taken in large quantities for a long time, it will cause scurvy after drug withdrawal, which needs attention.

3. Stomach cramps. Gastric spasm is a symptom, not a disease. Gastric spasm is characterized by severe, nervous pain in the abdomen and chest. Sometimes acute allergic reactions can also cause stomach cramps. About 90% of so-called stomach cramps are not spasms of the stomach itself. Spasms caused by the stomach itself will not cause pain. Gastric cramps caused by vitamin C are often less common. Generally, as long as vitamin C is taken reasonably, gastric cramps will not occur.

4. Intake of more than 2500-5000 mg of VC at one time may cause massive rupture of red blood cells and serious phenomena such as hemolysis. Of course, normal amounts of vitamin C are not harmful to the human body. Even if consumed every day, it will not cause any harm to the body, because it is an essential nutrient for the human body. Including the human body's disease resistance is directly related to vitamin C. Under normal circumstances, the optimal daily intake of vitamin C per person should be 200~300 mg. If you take vitamin C scientifically and rationally, these side effects of vitamin C will not occur easily.

After knowing the side effects of excessive vitamin C, do you still dare to supplement vitamin C alone? Especially for children, if they take too much vitamin C, it will also cause certain harm to bone growth. Therefore, if you want to supplement vitamins for your children, you must pay attention to controlling the amount. Only in this way can we achieve our original purpose and will not harm our bodies.
