Treatment of acute gout

Treatment of acute gout

Acute gout is a common disease. It is caused by problems with the body's purine metabolism. Acute gout brings a lot of pain to patients, so when facing acute gout we must know how to treat it. In fact, there are many ways to treat acute gout. We can have simple treatment methods and professional treatments.

To treat acute gout, we can control our diet in daily life and pay attention to consuming foods with low purine content. In addition to having a reasonable diet, we should also pay attention to exercising more.

Treatment of acute gout Gout is an ancient disease, and signs of gout have been found in Egyptian mummies thousands of years ago. More than 400 years BC, people had some knowledge about gout. There is a substance called purine in the human body, which mainly exists in the form of purine nucleotides. It plays a very important role in energy supply, metabolic regulation and coenzyme composition. When its metabolism is disturbed, it will cause gout. Gout can occur at any age. But the most common is middle-aged men over 40 years old. The male to female ratio is 20:1. The incidence rate is higher among those who do mental work and those who are obese. The reason why gout prefers men is that estrogen in women can promote the excretion of uric acid and inhibit the onset of arthritis. Men like to drink, attend banquets, and eat foods rich in purine and protein, which increases uric acid in the body and reduces its excretion. Symptoms of gout during an acute attack: Attacks usually occur in the second half of the night. The symptoms of gout at this stage include pain, swelling, and redness in the ankle joints or toes, arms, and finger joints, accompanied by severe pain. If observed under a microscope, pine needle-shaped urate deposits can be found in the affected tissue. It is the severe pain caused by urate precipitation. Please note that during the onset period, the blood uric acid value is lower than the normal maximum value because precipitates have already formed.

1. Simple method:

① Limit total calories. Calculated based on ideal body weight in resting state, it usually does not exceed 25 to 30 kcal/kg per day.

② Reasonable distribution of the three major nutrients. Under the premise of limiting total calories, the distribution principle is: high carbohydrates, moderate protein, and low fat. Among them: Carbohydrates: including vegetables and fruits, should account for 65-70% of total calories. Protein: It should account for 11-15% of total calories. The protein supply for standard body weight is 0.8-1.0g/kg, mainly plant protein. Animal protein can be selected from milk and its products, egg protein, and try not to use meat, poultry, or fish. Fat: Usually 40 to 50 g/d, with the ratio of animal to plant fat being 1:1.5.

2. Dietary arrangements: During the acute attack period, adopt a strict low-purine diet. During the chronic remission period, it is recommended to follow the acute attack dietary arrangement for 2 days a week, and adopt a moderate purine diet for the remaining 5 days, avoiding foods high in purine.

3. Notes:

① Avoid drinking alcohol.

② Individualized purine restriction. The specific treatment will be based on the severity of the disease, the stage of the disease, comorbidities, and the use of uric acid-lowering drugs.

③ Pay attention to food cooking methods. Spices such as chili, curry, pepper, mustard, ginger, etc. should be avoided. The most important thing is to use Fulbez tea substitute for treatment, because the active ingredients contained in Fulbez tea substitute have a surfactant-like effect, which can clean the urate "scale" accumulated in the kidneys, increase the kidney's ability to filter out uric acid, and keep the kidneys in a clean and young state, which can effectively solve the problem of the source of the disease. Then, you can use the gout diet recommended by nutrition experts for auxiliary conditioning to ensure that the body's nutrition is fully kept up. I believe that the combination of the two will achieve twice the result with half the effort.

Acute gout treatment:

1: Ice compress: When the affected area is painful, you can use crushed ice to apply ice. Ice cubes have a numbing and pain-relieving effect. Place the ice pack on the affected joint for 10 minutes, preferably with a towel or sponge in between.

2: Elevate the affected part: During an acute attack, the affected limb should be elevated to allow the affected part to rest. This may not be easy to do because you may be in so much pain that you cannot move. At this stage, most patients cannot even bear the weight of a bed sheet, and the slightest touch on the joints causes severe pain. You can make a protective frame so that the sheets and blankets do not press on the painful area.

3: If the pain is really unbearable, you must use non-steroidal analgesics, such as diclofenac sodium. It is not possible to use hormones and salicylic acid to relieve pain, otherwise the condition will worsen. Reminder: Please follow the doctor's advice and avoid taking it without authorization.

4: Avoid pressure on the affected limb: Because even the pressure of sheets or blankets can cause pain in the gouty joint, you can place the gouty foot in a cardboard box or a plastic laundry basket when resting in bed.

5: Move your joints frequently. Move your fingers and toes, knees and elbows more often and do stretching exercises. This will drive away the deposits of uric acid crystals in the joints.

6: Soak your feet in gout hand and foot bath for at least 30 minutes before going to bed at night to relieve pain and dissolve uric acid crystals and excrete them out of the body.

Above we introduced the impact of acute gout. There are still many ways to treat acute gout, but the most important method is to control our diet and reduce the intake of purine. In the face of acute gout, we can take some analgesics and use ice compresses to relieve and treat it.
