Causes of general fatigue

Always feel weak all over? There are many reasons for general weakness. Lack of sleep and physical work can cause symptoms of general weakness. You don’t need to take these too seriously, but if you exclude these factors and you still feel weak all the time, you need to go to the hospital for a check-up. Many diseases will show symptoms of general weakness, so be vigilant.

1. Manual laborers are prone to fatigue if they eat too light a diet because the sodium in salt can enhance the excitability of nerves and muscles.

2. Lack of sleep can make people feel tired, but people with neurasthenia will also feel weak if they take sleeping pills for a long time. Other drugs that cause fatigue include antihistamines such as diphenhydramine.

3. People who are addicted to alcohol often feel tired; hungry people also feel weak due to lack of protein and potassium; fatigue and weakness are sometimes prodromal symptoms of vitamin B1 deficiency, and alcoholics are prone to this disease.

4. Fatigue among physical or mental workers is a normal physiological phenomenon, but feeling tired after just a little work should be taken seriously.

5. People who frequently vomit and have diarrhea and use large amounts of diuretics may feel general weakness due to low blood potassium; however, patients with high blood potassium may also feel weak, so blood tests are needed for differentiation.

6. Diabetes is the disease that most often causes fatigue. Due to abnormal glucose metabolism, reduced high-energy phosphate bonds, negative nitrogen balance, water loss and electrolyte imbalance, patients are prone to fatigue, weakness, thirst, weight loss, polyphagia and polyuria.

7. Anemia also often causes fatigue. Severe cases include chronic anemia, sudden onset iron deficiency anemia, acute hemorrhagic anemia, acute hemolytic anemia, etc. These patients all experience fatigue.

8. Patients with chronic nephritis also often feel tired and weak, and because they need to eat a low-salt or salt-free diet for a long time, they are prone to potassium deficiency. Therefore, fatigue, insomnia, and low back pain are often their main complaints when they seek medical treatment.

9. People who suffer from colds and various infectious diseases almost all experience fatigue and weakness. Heart failure patients eat less and take in less magnesium, so the ATP that provides energy cannot be activated, resulting in fatigue.

10. Many endocrine diseases present with symptoms of fatigue. Fatigue is the first symptom of patients with hypothyroidism and is also a common symptom in patients with hyperthyroidism.

11. Sheehan's syndrome caused by shock due to postpartum hemorrhage has the main symptoms of fatigue, amenorrhea, and weight loss, which is caused by hypopituitarism. Patients with acromegaly caused by hyperpituitarism also often feel fatigue and weakness in the limbs.
