If you're a globe-trotting meat eater, this is bound to make your mouth water. Medium, medium or rare? The choice is yours. 1. Takayama, Japan

Japan's Kobe beef is famous internationally, but some meat masters know that the best Kobe beef can only be tasted in a village in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture. The pink meat is grilled by diners at many restaurants and served with vegetables, local sauces and, of course, sake.

2. Sardinia, Italy

The Mediterranean island of Sardinia is known as a tourist destination for sunshine and beaches, but smart tourists have discovered the island's oldest culinary tradition: Su Porcheddu. If you want to see the traditional way of cooking: roasting a whole pig, either buried in the ground or roasted over a fire, then you have to come to Sardinia.

3. Buenos Aires, Argentina
