Doing 5 small things in the shower will make you healthier

Doing 5 small things in the shower will make you healthier

1. Prevent dry lines and cracks

After winter and spring, your skin can become rough, especially on your hands and feet. In the hot summer and fall seasons, our feet are exposed to the elements every day when we walk. If the skin on our feet is dry, painful heel cracks or dryness can occur, disrupting your optimal training plan.

Use a pumice stone in your bath to get rid of dry, cracked skin. When your feet are moisturized, it's easier to get rid of that skin, revealing smooth, healthy feet.

2. Prevent acne

Your skin flakes off every few days to stop the growth.

Use a loofah or sugar scrub (which is gentler than salt) to remove the dead skin cells that can clog pores and cause acne.

3. Stretching

This is not to suggest that you do an entire yoga session in the shower, as that is unsafe and would waste a ton of water.

But taking a few minutes to stretch your back can release tension in your mind and muscles. Stand with your legs apart, do a squat, and place your hands together and relax in front of you while showering your back with warm water.

Because hot water is extremely therapeutic for tight or sore muscles, it can make this stretch even more effective.

4. Eliminate nasal congestion

Bathing your body with hot water will only help you avoid a cold or sinus infection, but if you already have an infection, use a neti pot while you bathe.

Breathe in the steam for five minutes, then add salt to a neti pot and water from a shower head—at the perfect temperature.

Not only does the steam make your neti pot more effective, but it also saves you from wasting tissue when you blow your nose. Use a plastic neti pot that's shaped like a rhino horn so you don't have to worry about it slipping off the floor.
