Six bad habits that will drain your life

Six bad habits that will drain your life

I still remember when you were in your early 20s, in the prime of your life, you believed that your energy would never dry up; in order to make yourself look more mature and sexy, you always had cigarettes between your fingers; in the summer, you seized every opportunity to show off your youthful charm. Times have changed, and now you have become an ordinary person: like everyone else, you are burdened with the pressure of repaying loans, and you spend more energy on planning various household affairs. As for leisure and entertainment, they have long become an occasional luxury. At this point, you may start to worry whether the reckless behavior you had when you were young will suddenly backfire on you. Smoking, drinking, clubbing, sunbathing, these activities that seem to be symbols of youth, what kind of threats will they bring to your physical health in the future? Let's find out.

The first harm: repeated weight loss

Hazards: The medical community used to believe that repeated weight loss could lead to metabolic disorders, decreased muscle density, and even sudden death, but in-depth research has shown a negative trend towards the above conclusions. However, the impact of repeated weight loss and weight gain on health is not optimistic. A recent study from the Washington Medical Center showed that repeated weight loss can lead to a long-term decrease in the body's immunity. Although the specific reasons have not yet been identified, researchers have found that repeated weight loss can reduce cell vitality and the ability to fight colds, infections and early cancer cells.

Remedy : For overweight people, losing 4.5 kg can reduce the incidence of high blood pressure and diabetes. Losing excess fat is certainly healthier and more stylish than dragging around a lot of fat, but the key is how to protect your weight loss results. First of all, we must find out the cause of obesity and abandon our past unhealthy lifestyles and habits; then take practical actions to lose weight scientifically and happily according to the advice of nutritionists and our own acceptance - we must control excessive eating while ensuring the daily intake of various nutrients needed by the human body. Again, regular exercise can not only reduce stress on the human body but also promote fat burning, making the weight loss effect more significant and lasting. Last but not least, no matter how good a weight loss method is, it requires the dieter’s perseverance to cooperate.

The second biggest harm: love sunbathing

Hazards: Many people believe that sunbathing not only gives them a charming complexion but is also good for their health. But don't underestimate the power of the sun - frequent or prolonged sunbathing may also lead to skin cancer and premature aging (such as pigmentation, wrinkles, sagging skin and broken capillaries). Although no one has proven to what extent sunbathing itself causes skin cancer, studies have shown that people who have experienced sunburn have a higher risk of developing melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer. A recent study shows that among all sunbathers, white people are three times more likely to develop melanoma. In terms of sunbathing methods, "artificial" sunbathing is more harmful because the skin will absorb quite concentrated ultraviolet rays in a short period of time.

Remedy: There can be a latent period of 10 to 30 years from sunburn to skin cancer. So if you were sunburned as a child, you must be more vigilant now. Check your skin all over your body every month to see if there are any new moles or if any old moles have changed color or deformed. If you find any suspicious symptoms, seek medical attention immediately. At the same time, if you have a lot of moles on your body or if someone in your family who sunbathes frequently has a history of skin cancer, you should also have a professional skin check every year. And of course, there's the basics: never go into direct sunlight again without sunscreen.

The third biggest harm: often in a noisy environment

Harm: If you loved rock music when you were young, you will find that your hearing is not as good as before. Being in a noisy environment for a long time can easily cause the auditory system to have a reduced ability to receive medium wave sounds. Sometimes you can't hear clearly what others are saying, especially when there is noise around. As people age, they become less able to respond to higher-frequency sounds, meaning they become less able to hear high-pitched sounds like doorbells and telephones.

Remedies: Hearing loss is irreversible. But we can take action to prevent further hearing loss. For example, deliberately turn down the volume when watching TV or listening to music, and wear earmuffs when using noisy electrical appliances such as vacuum cleaners. If you experience frequent buzzing in your ears, you may have tinnitus, a common condition for people who like to blast loud music. Although there is no cure, if you experience this symptom, you should seek medical attention immediately to rule out the possibility of other diseases and learn how to relieve the symptoms.

The fourth biggest harm: unprotected sex

Danger: You could be infected with a sexually transmitted disease without even realizing it. Experts point out that about 75% of women carry chlamydia but do not have any clinical symptoms, and most women with gonorrhea only show mild symptoms, such as discomfort in urination or yellow fluid discharge from the vagina, and they do not even think that they need treatment. Unprotected sex can transmit these diseases to men. In addition, 80% of male patients with genital herpes will not experience obvious clinical symptoms such as pain. Further research has found that up to 75% of men are infected with human papilloma virus (HPV), which is currently the most common infectious sexually transmitted disease. It usually has no obvious symptoms, but if it is not treated promptly and is transmitted to women, it can lead to cervical cancer.

Remedy: If you don't have a habit of checking your body regularly, start doing so today. You must be open and honest with your doctor about your sexual situation. Herpes is a chronic disease that can be controlled by medication to avoid pain and infection.

The fifth biggest harm: alcoholism

Harm: Alcohol abuse can easily lead to alcohol poisoning, especially if there is such a patient in the immediate family. The medical community defines binge drinking as drinking five or more beers at a time, or having a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher. Since large amounts of alcohol can kill brain nerve cells, it can lead to memory loss over time. It may also cause liver diseases such as fatty liver and cirrhosis. In severe cases, liver transplantation is required to save life.

Remedy: If you are not yet dependent on alcohol, limit yourself to one beer a day from now on. As alcohol intake decreases, the liver will most likely naturally return to its normal state. At the same time, although we cannot revive dead brain nerve cells, the brain's memory function will gradually recover as long as there is no stimulation of large amounts of alcohol.

The sixth biggest harm: smoking

Hazards: Whether you are a light smoker who smokes occasionally for social purposes, or a heavy smoker who cannot live a peaceful life without cigarettes, the harmful ingredients in cigarettes will greatly increase your risk of heart disease, lung cancer and other types of cancer. Specifically, cancer deaths caused by smoking account for 30% of all cancer deaths.

Remedy: For those who have been smoking for years or even decades, is there any way to save their health? The answer is to quit smoking. Experts point out that even if you quit smoking for only one year, you can effectively reduce the risk of heart disease by more than half. If you can persist for more than 15 years, the risk of cardiovascular disease can be restored to the level of people who have never smoked. Regarding the prevention of lung cancer, researchers have found that those who have quit smoking for 5 years are half as likely to develop lung cancer as smokers, and those who have quit smoking for 10 years have their risk reduced to the normal level. During the period of quitting smoking, you should eat more fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants. These ingredients can promote cell repair and eliminate carcinogenic free radicals in the body. At the same time, you should actively participate in sports to strengthen lung function and promote blood circulation in the lungs.
