2. Dysentery: Heat prevails over dampness, and the evil damages the blood. The symptoms include yellow-red stool, or pure red, or like fish brain, abdominal pain, tenesmus, red and hot urine, thirst and desire to drink, or high fever. It is also called heat dysentery.

3. Red and white dysentery: accumulation of dampness and heat, damage to both Qi and blood. Symptoms include mixed red and white discharge, shaped like fish brain, with abnormal fishy smell, thirst, abdominal pain, weak and rapid pulse. It is also called damp-heat dysentery.

4. Lockjaw dysentery: red and white diarrhea, vomiting, inability to eat, chest and abdominal distension, fatigue and weakness. It is mostly caused by untransformed dampness and heat, which block the appetite, or filth and dirt blocking the stomach.

5. Resting dysentery: The body is weak and pathogenic factors are trapped, lingering in the stomach and intestines. The dysentery does not heal for a long time, recurs frequently and stops frequently, the patient is tired, has a sallow complexion, is emaciated and weak, and has a thready pulse.
