How to use enema for children:

Because the opening end of the enema is hard and rough, its use in the treatment of constipation in children often causes redness, swelling and pain in the perianal mucosa, and even damages the rectal mucosa, causing pain to the child and making it difficult for the child to cooperate. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the method when using it on children.

Using a 20ml syringe and a disposable scalp needle instead of a suppository to relieve constipation in children is more effective and easy to operate. Children feel comfortable and are easy to cooperate.

The method is: draw all the enema liquid into a 20ml syringe (discard the needle part), then connect a disposable scalp needle (cut off the front end of the scalp needle with the needle part, leaving 2~5cm for spare), apply paraffin oil and insert it for use.

How to improve the effectiveness of enema?

1. Help the patient to lie prone. Those who cannot lie prone can lie on their left side with their hips raised appropriately.

2. Cut off the top of the enema and squeeze out a little glycerin to lubricate the enema into the anus.

3. Hold the bulb of the enema, slowly insert it into the anus until it reaches the neck of the enema, and quickly squeeze the bulb of the enema. At the same time, ask the patient to take a deep breath.

4. After squeezing out all the liquid, hold the gauze in one hand and massage the anus, and quickly pull out the enema shell with the other hand (adults generally need 30 to 40 ml). Instruct the patient to maintain the original position for about ten minutes.

5. For those who complain of abdominal distension and the urge to defecate, they should be guided to continue inhaling and assisted in massaging the anus.

Through the above introduction, we have a good understanding of the usage of enema, so when choosing such a thing, you can rest assured that it will not cause any harm to your body. If there is any abnormality in the body when using the enema, you need to stop using it immediately, so as to stabilize the patient's own problems.
