1. Thyroid cancer combined with onychomycosis: Thyroid cancer patients suffer from metabolic disorders and fungal infections, which lead to onychomycosis and blackening of nails. If onychomycosis can be treated in time, the symptoms can be effectively relieved and even cured;

2. Drug factors: If thyroid cancer patients take drugs containing iron for a long time, such as ferrous sulfate, iron sucrose, etc., it may cause nails to turn black. Usually, the symptoms can be relieved after stopping taking the drugs;

3. Traumatic factors: If the nails of thyroid cancer patients are traumatized, resulting in local congestion, the nails may turn black. If thyroid cancer patients undergo a neck hair plucking test at the same time, the possibility of a positive hair plucking test cannot be ruled out. A positive hair plucking test proves that the patient is allergic to iodine. It is recommended to disinfect with iodine immediately after the hair plucking test to avoid local infection;

4. Nail matrix nevus: Nail matrix nevus is a nevus that grows at the root of the nail. It will not turn black by itself, but due to external stimulation or pathological changes, it can cause the nail to turn black. If the nail turns black due to the nail matrix nevus, it is recommended to conduct a pathological examination and perform surgical excision after a clear diagnosis.
