The hot summer is here, which not only affects people's psychology, but also brings the season for bacteria and mosquitoes to multiply and breed. Some people have red spots on their arms, which may be caused by mosquito bites. Because when mosquitoes suck human blood, they inject a liquid into the human body that reacts with the human body. Red spots appear as the body reacts to the fluid. Of course, this is just one situation. Some people get red spots because of inflammation of the hair follicles. Folliculitis inflammation can also cause red spots on the skin, and if the situation is more serious, it will develop into a darker brown or dark red color. However, some people still don’t know much about keratosis pilaris. Let me tell you in detail about the symptoms of this disease. Keratosis pilaris is a very common skin problem. It is a dominant genetic disorder of keratinization metabolism. There is a 50% chance that it will be passed on to the next generation. The symptoms usually become obvious from adolescence, and become less and less obvious by the age of 30 or 40. Generally speaking, there will be no sequelae. Its incidence rate is as high as 40% to 50%. It mainly occurs on the outer side of the upper arm and the extensor side of the thigh. In severe cases, it may even occur on the outer side of the elbow and the extensor side of the calf. It looks like there is keratin accumulation at the opening of the hair follicles. In severe cases, there may be redness or swelling around the area, which may make people mistakenly think that they have many blackheads and inflamed pimples on their arms or thighs. However, if you squeeze it forcefully, it will cause red spots. If the pores are red and even feel raised to the touch, this is keratosis pilaris. In more serious cases, the pores will be darker in color, appearing dark red or brown, and the particles will be rougher, looking like goose bumps. The most common areas where it appears are the outer side of the upper arms, thighs, and neck. Some people even have symptoms of follicular keratosis on their entire back and cheeks. Follicular keratosis is a physical condition caused by congenital genes. People with this physique will have thickened keratin around the hair follicles, causing the follicle openings to be blocked by the excessive keratin, resulting in small bumps. Some patients with atopic dermatitis and ichthyosis often also suffer from keratosis pilaris. The symptoms will be more severe in winter because it is related to keratinization of hair follicles and thickening of cuticles. Therefore, when the climate is drier and colder, the thickening of cuticles will be aggravated, making the symptoms more obvious. The problem of red spots on the arms cannot be ignored. Of course, if red spots appear on your arms, it is possible that it is not keratosis pilaris. So, if you find some unusual red spots on your body, don't be too nervous. Wait a few days to see if the red spots will disappear. If they haven’t disappeared yet, you should consult a doctor to prevent them from being symptoms of other diseases. |
