When talking about trachoma, many people feel scared. This is mainly because trachoma is a highly contagious disease. When patients touch their eyes with their hands, certain pathogenic microorganisms will be on their hands. When the patient's hands then touch other objects, the objects will also be carrying certain pathogens. If normal people touch these objects carrying pathogenic microorganisms, they will easily be infected with trachoma. Since trachoma is so easily contagious, does that mean it cannot be cured once we are infected with it? In fact, although trachoma is highly contagious and is prone to recurring, trachoma is not an untreatable disease. However, certain methods must be used when treating trachoma. Let us learn about this below. 1. Local medication for trachoma treatment 0.1% rifampicin or 0.5% chloramphenicol or tetracycline eye drops are better if applied 3 to 6 times a day. However, after these drugs are dissolved in water, they gradually become ineffective within a few weeks and need to be re-prepared. If made into eye ointment or suspension, it can be stored for a longer time. 10%-30% sodium sulfacetamide and 0.25%-0.5% chloramphenicol eye drops are easy to store and have good effects. 2. Trachoma treatment methods: systemic treatment In acute or severe trachoma, in addition to topical medications, adults can take sulfonamide preparations orally. One course of treatment is 7 to 10 days of continuous use. Stop the medicine for 1 week and then take it again. 2 to 4 courses of treatment are required, and attention should be paid to the side effects of the drugs. 3. Surgical treatment of trachoma If papillary hyperplasia is severe, drug friction can be used. Use a cotton swab or cuttlebone stick dipped in sulfonamide or tetracycline to rub the palpebral conjunctiva and fornix conjunctiva. For patients with many follicles, compression surgery is performed. Under local anesthesia, the follicles are squeezed with round forceps to discharge their contents. At the same time, drug treatment is combined to promote recovery. For the sequelae of trachoma, such as inverted eyelashes in a few cases, electrolysis can be performed, while those with entropion and inverted eyelashes require surgical correction. 4. Chinese medicine prescriptions for the treatment of trachoma Ingredients: 9g processed ganshi, 3g sea cucumber, 15g ground powder, 4 black fish gallbladders, 9g ruiren frost, 3g moonstone, 7.5g plum slices, 3g pearls, 0.45g musk The above are the treatment methods for trachoma. We can see that if trachoma is treated correctly, it can be completely cured. Of course, because trachoma is prone to recurrence, we need to pay attention to personal hygiene during treatment and not touch the eyes with our hands to avoid repeated infection and making the disease more and more serious. |
