Symptoms of tonsillitis

Symptoms of tonsillitis

Speaking of tonsillitis, I believe everyone is familiar with it. Because tonsillitis is one of the more common diseases, and the main incidence group is concentrated in children, and even occurs in adults. In addition, tonsillitis can easily lead to fever, general fatigue, and even indigestion. So what are the symptoms of tonsillitis?

In fact, tonsillitis is a type of inflammation, and the harmfulness of tonsillitis is quite large. It not only easily leads to various throat diseases, but also may cause many complications. Therefore, if you find symptoms similar to tonsillitis, you should seek medical attention in time.

Symptoms of Tonsillitis

1. Have a history of recurrent sore throat, susceptibility to colds, or peritonsillar abscess. Symptoms are usually not obvious, but there is often a history of acute attacks.

2. Mild symptoms such as dry throat, itching, foreign body sensation, irritating cough, and bad breath are common. If the tonsils are too enlarged, breathing, swallowing or speech resonance problems may occur.

3. Common symptoms include indigestion, headache, fatigue, low fever, etc.

4. Examination: Tonsils and palatoglossal arches are diffusely congested, and yellow and white cheesy dots can be seen at the openings of the crypts; these dots sometimes need to be squeezed out of the crypts by squeezing the palatoglossal arches with a tongue depressor.

5. Tonsils are of varying sizes. Children and young people mostly have hyperplasia, with enlarged tonsils; adults' tonsils have mostly shrunk, but scars can be seen on the surface, which is uneven and often adheres to the surrounding tissues. Patients often have enlarged lymph nodes at the angle of the mandible.

6. Mainly symptoms of chronic poisoning and neurological adverse symptoms. Symptoms include poor nutritional development, pigeon chest, anemia, weight loss, low fever, indigestion, fatigue, headache, inattention, boredom, easy to be frightened, bad temper, teeth grinding during sleep, enuresis, etc.

7. Adenoid facies: Due to long-term mouth breathing, the development of facial bones is affected, the maxilla becomes long and narrow, and the hard palate becomes high and narrow. Protruding teeth, irregular dentition, poor bite, drooping mandible, thick lips, upturned upper lip, hanging lower lip, drooping outer canthus, and shallow nasolabial groove. If there is mental depression and dull and stupid facial expressions, it becomes the so-called "adenoid facies".

8. Due to hypertrophy of pharyngeal tonsils and accumulation of inflammatory secretions in the nasopharynx, the pharyngeal opening of the Eustachian tube is blocked, which may lead to non-suppurative or suppurative otitis media, resulting in hearing loss, tinnitus, and stuffy ears.

Precautions

1. Avoid tobacco and alcohol: tobacco and alcohol are pungent, hot, warm and dry, which can turn fire into damaging yin and aggravate internal heat. At the same time, alcohol can also dilate peripheral blood vessels, aggravate inflammatory edema and exudation, leading to a recurrence of the disease or worsening of the condition.

2. Avoid eating roasted and greasy foods: such as fat meat, fat chicken, lamb, roast goose, roast duck, roast lamb skewers, pork chops, etc. Because these foods can easily produce phlegm and turn into fire, phlegm and fire will accumulate and burn the throat, worsening the condition.

3. Avoid spicy foods: such as chili peppers, peppercorns, leeks, five-spice powder, spicy hot pot, pickled mustard tubers, etc. Because spicy foods are mostly hot and can easily turn into fire, they can aggravate stomach heat, heat toxins, and worsen symptoms.

4. Avoid drinking raw, cold and frozen foods: such as ice juice, ice watermelon, ice soda, ice cola, ice milk, rock sugar water, etc. Because inflammation is accompanied by redness, swelling, heat and pain, and the capillaries dilate and become congested, eating frozen food will cause the inflamed capillaries to spasm and contract, disrupting blood circulation, aggravating the inflammation, and making the condition recurring and difficult to heal.

5. Avoid eating fishy foods: such as shrimp, crab, hairtail, eel, rooster, dog meat, bamboo shoots, etc. Because these foods can gather phlegm and generate heat, which can trigger the disease.

6. Avoid eating various foods that warm the yang and nourish the kidneys: such as deer antler, ginseng, Nanbao, Shiquan Dabu wine, etc. Because these foods are damp and heat blocking the internal organs, they can cause internal heat to accumulate and aggravate the disease.

There are actually many types of symptoms of tonsillitis. Not only will you feel an itchy throat and a foreign body, but you will also experience loss of appetite, indigestion, and even a high fever. It can also cause other diseases. Therefore, in terms of daily diet, you should pay attention to eating less irritating food and raw and cold food. In addition, it is best to eat less fried and greasy food. Everyone should pay attention.
