6 bad bathroom habits that will get you cancer

Dr. Mangos, a famous American oncologist, pointed out: "Many hygiene products in modern households should be used with caution because they contain carcinogenic chemicals!" Now, let's follow the editor to discover the six carcinogenic habits that everyone makes in the bathroom.

1. Toilet Paper

The first thing Dr. Mangos listed was toilet paper, which people cannot live without every day. He said that toilet paper is mostly recycled paper, and in order to beautify the appearance, most toilet papers are added with dyes, including fluorescent brighteners or talcum powder. The whiter the toilet paper, the more fluorescent brighteners or talcum powder may be added. These additives mostly contain the compound benzene; some poor quality toilet papers also contain formaldehyde. Long-term contact with skin of these substances may cause leukemia and cancer.

2. Fragrance

Nowadays, many families like to put a box of air freshener in the bathroom to make the environment fresh and pleasant. Unexpectedly, these scents are also chemical synthetics and may also induce cancer. Dr. Mangos recommends that it is best not to place deodorants in the bathroom. If you want to keep the air fresh, you can open the windows frequently or use an exhaust fan. Most families use cleaning products such as disinfectant, which are often placed in the corners of the room or in the bathroom. After they evaporate, they often accumulate a large amount of harmful gases. The toxicity is even stronger when taking a hot shower in the bathroom. Some disinfectants also contain dichlorobenzene, which can irritate the respiratory tract, cause cell mutations and induce leukemia, lung cancer, etc.

3. Plastic wastebasket

There is also a plastic wastebasket in the bathroom at home. Experts say: Putting a wastebasket in the toilet will greatly increase the rate of bacterial reproduction, turning the bathroom into a virus breeding ground and source of infection. They believe that general paper items can be thrown into the toilet and flushed away with the water; for those sanitary products that are difficult to flush away, you can bring your own convenient bag, take them out of the toilet and throw them into the trash can. This makes the bathroom clean and reduces pollution, and there is no need to place a wastebasket in the toilet.

4. Shampoo

Whether cheap or expensive, shampoo is a mixture of detergents and other ingredients. Like the foaming agents used in bubble baths, once shampoo is opened and stored for a long time, the formaldehyde in it will react chemically with the emulsifying ingredients used in the shampoo to form a carcinogen called "N-nitrosodiethanolamine". Shampoo is a daily necessity that we use frequently in our lives, so the health problems it brings are particularly worthy of attention.

5. Bubble Bath

Many young people don't like to take a shower with soap, but prefer to lie in the bathtub and take a bubble bath. Most of the substances in soap are derived from natural sources. However, the foaming agent used in bubble baths is different. It smells good, but this fragrance may cause skin inflammation and dizziness. Lying in the bathtub for a long time will expose the body to the foaming agent, and the harmful chemical ingredient "foam stabilizer" it contains will penetrate into the skin and be breathed into the lungs.

Tips: Try to avoid taking bubble baths and using shower gel as much as possible. Vegetable oil soap is a good choice.

6. Toothpaste

Gum disease can contribute to heart disease, posing a greater threat to heart health than smoking and high cholesterol. In addition, gum disease increases the risk of stroke, osteoporosis, respiratory disease, diabetes, etc. There are several active ingredients in toothpaste that are of concern. Sodium lauryl sulfate, a chemical widely used in toothpaste, is believed to cause gastrointestinal problems and liver poisoning; it can make the mouth more susceptible to ulcers and oral cancer. Abrasives in toothpaste are also thought to harm gums, making them more susceptible to damage.
