When the body is hurt, many people are accustomed to applying a hot towel. Using a hot towel to apply heat can indeed relieve pain and has good health-care effects. According to experts, Chinese medicine says that “warmth promotes circulation, and circulation relieves pain”, and using a hot towel for hot compress actually achieves the effect of warming and unblocking the circulation. When applying hot compress, you should choose a clean towel, soak it in hot water at 40-45 degrees Celsius, wring it dry and apply it to the affected area. There should be no burning sensation when it touches the skin. It is best to cover the affected area with a clean cloth or cotton pad. Generally, change the towel every 5 minutes, and it is best to use them alternately. Apply hot compress for 15-20 minutes each time, 3-4 times a day. Prevention of deafness: Applying a towel on the ears or gently rubbing them can improve blood circulation in the ears and prevent functional deafness caused by ischemia. Relieve eye fatigue: Applying hot compress with a towel can promote blood circulation around the eyes, reduce eye fatigue, partially relieve the symptoms of dry eyes, and also have the effect of improving eyesight and strengthening the brain. Improve dizziness: Place a hot towel on the back of the head for a few minutes at a time. This can stimulate the acupoints at the back of the head, improve dizziness symptoms in some patients, and also improve reaction and thinking abilities. Treat stiff neck: For mild stiff neck, you can apply a hot towel to the affected area and do some neck exercises. Slowly bend your head forward and gently turn it forward, backward, left and right. Prevention and treatment of cervical spondylosis: Early symptoms of cervical spondylosis, such as stiff and sore neck or mild pain after catching a cold, can be improved by applying hot towels, promoting blood circulation, relieving muscle spasms and preventing cervical spondylosis. Tips: When the injured area is blistered or damaged, forming an "open wound", it is not appropriate to apply hot towel compress. Hot compresses should not be applied during the acute stage of sprain when there is still bleeding and swelling. Hot compresses should be applied 48 hours after the bleeding has stopped and the swelling has subsided. It is also not advisable to use hot towels for undiagnosed acute abdominal pain and conjunctivitis. |
