CT is of great value in staging esophageal cancer:

Stage I: The tumor is confined to the mucosa or superficial muscle, and CT may be difficult to judge.

Stage II and III: When the tumor invades deeper tissues or local lymph node metastasis occurs, CT can more clearly show the extent of the lesion.

Stage IV: When there are distant metastases such as liver and lung metastases, CT is the preferred imaging tool to identify the metastatic area.

When using CT for examination, the ability to distinguish lesions can be improved through enhanced scanning. In combination with other examinations such as PET-CT and MRI, the accuracy of diagnosis can be further improved.

The value of CT examination in the diagnosis of esophageal cancer is mainly reflected in the assessment of tumor range, degree of invasion and metastasis, and is suitable for preoperative staging and design of treatment plans.
