At what age is cervical cancer usually checked?

Women aged 30 to 65 can have cervical cancer screening every five years, including cervical cytology and human papillomavirus testing. They can also have cervical cytology every three years or human papillomavirus testing every five years. Women aged under 65 and over 30 can have a combined TCT and HPV test every five years if there is no abnormality. If they choose TCT alone, it is recommended to have a test every three years. Cervical cancer screening is generally done for women who have sex.

What are the symptoms of cervical cancer?

The following symptoms may occur after cervical cancer screening: a small amount of vaginal bleeding, or blood in vaginal secretions: This is mainly because the soft brush used to collect the specimen enters the cervical canal and brushes away the sloughed cells, causing local mucosal damage to the cervical canal and bleeding, especially in the case of cervicitis or cervical precancerous lesions, causing contact bleeding. Cervical cancer usually has no symptoms in the early stages. In the late stages of cervical cancer, water discharge, irregular bleeding will occur, usually contact bleeding after intercourse, accompanied by abnormal secretions. All of these, including TCT and HPV of the cervix, colposcopy of the cervix and colposcopy-guided biopsy, and cervical conization are all methods for examining cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer vaccine test

For women who have had sex and want to get the cervical cancer vaccine, they first need to do a cervical TCT and HPV test, and can only be vaccinated if there are no abnormal lesions. Cervical cancer vaccination is the main means of preventing cervical cancer. Generally speaking, no special examination is required before vaccination. Some doctors recommend screening for TCT and HPV before vaccination. Before getting the cervical cancer vaccine, if the recipient is a woman who has never had sex, generally no examination is required and the vaccine can be given directly.
