Which type of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is most likely to recur

Once nasopharyngeal cancer patients find recurrence, they must undergo surgery as soon as possible and choose the most suitable treatment method for themselves. So, which type of nasopharyngeal cancer is most likely to recur? What should we do?

Which type of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is most likely to recur? This depends on the individual. If the condition is serious, no matter which type of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, it will easily recur. The 5-year survival rate of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is about 50%. The main factors affecting the 5-year survival rate are the recurrence and metastasis of the tumor. Studies have shown that the 5-year cumulative recurrence rate of nasopharyngeal carcinoma after radiotherapy is 25%, and its metastasis rate is 22%. How to reduce the recurrence and metastasis rates of patients is the key to improving the survival rate of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients.

The treatment methods for recurrent symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are: There are four main methods for the treatment of malignant tumors, namely surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and bioimmunotherapy. It has been clinically confirmed that chemotherapy is not effective for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and radiotherapy is even worse for recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Its five-year survival rate is about 20%. This is because after the previous radiotherapy, the cancer cells that are sensitive to radiation have been killed, and the remaining recurrent cancer cells are not sensitive to radiation. In principle, it is not easy for malignant tumors in the same part to receive two radiotherapy. Surgical removal of recurrent lesions has been proven to be an effective treatment method.

However, the nasopharynx is located deep in the skull base, and is surrounded by important neurovascular structures. Therefore, the operation is complex and difficult. In recent years, on the basis of a large number of skull base surgeries, biological immunotherapy has been combined for adjuvant treatment, and good results have been achieved. Biological immunotherapy is currently the most effective and safest adjuvant treatment method. Cellular immunotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma can be used together with surgical treatment, chemotherapy and radiotherapy to have a strong complementary effect.

From the above, we can see that the possibility of recurrence is very high, so we must take good care measures in our daily life.
