Causes of leg swelling due to breast cancer

Causes of leg swelling due to breast cancer

If breast cancer causes leg swelling, the first thing to do is to rule out liver metastasis, which is usually bilateral. If only one leg is swollen, a color Doppler ultrasound of the lower limb blood vessels is needed to check if there is deep vein thrombosis in the lower limbs. For bilateral lower limb edema, there are also some cardiogenic factors, such as obvious right heart failure, and late hypoproteinemia. In addition to the above reasons, some chemotherapy drugs during breast cancer treatment can also cause lower limb swelling.

Symptoms of late-stage breast cancer

Breast cancer is one of the malignant breast lesions. The early symptoms are not obvious, mainly painless breast masses, which are easy to be ignored. As the disease progresses, clinical symptoms such as painful breast masses, bloody nipple discharge, nipple retraction, orange peel-like changes in the breast, and dimple signs of the breast may gradually appear. Some tumors metastasize and may have corresponding metastatic symptoms. It is necessary to seek medical attention in time, and the diagnosis can be confirmed through breast B-ultrasound, CT, mammography and other examination items. If necessary, a biopsy puncture examination can be performed, surgical treatment can be performed as soon as possible, and then later radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be performed according to the pathological results.

What tests are done for breast cancer and cervical cancer screening?

Breast cancer and cervical cancer are two common malignant tumors in women, and screening is very important. Because early screening and early treatment of these two diseases are very effective. Breast cancer screening mainly involves breast color Doppler ultrasound examination, which does not cause radiation. Another option is to do a breast mammography examination. The combination of the two can reveal unexplained breast lumps, and further surgery can confirm whether it is breast cancer. For cervical cancer, a TCT examination, also known as a liquid-based cytology examination, can be performed first. If abnormalities are found, a colposcopy biopsy can be performed for pathology.
