Can advanced nasopharyngeal cancer be cured? What kind of care is needed?

1. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the common malignant tumors. There are many treatment methods. For example, surgical treatment is suitable for early stage cancer that has not metastasized, but it is powerless for patients with mid- to late stage metastasis. Chemotherapy is one of the common methods for treating nasopharyngeal carcinoma in China. Chemotherapy drugs have serious irritation and toxicity to the patient's normal cells and tissues, that is, the side effects are very large.

2. Radiotherapy is a good way to treat nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Since the parotid glands and salivary glands are within the radiation range, the functions of the parotid glands and salivary glands are suppressed after radiotherapy. API special biological immunotherapy mobilizes the body's immunity and enhances anti-cancer ability by mobilizing the body's defense mechanism or with the help of biological agents.

How to care:

1. Psychological care. Use smiles and skilled techniques to establish a good nurse-patient relationship and enhance the patient's confidence in overcoming the disease. Gao Panfeng, Department of Radiotherapy, Nanpi County People's Hospital.

2. Skin care of the irradiated area. Patients should choose cotton underwear, preferably without a collar, to protect the radiotherapy marks and ensure the accuracy of radiotherapy.

3. Oral care. Patients should brush their teeth with a soft toothbrush, rinse their mouths after meals, pay attention to food hygiene, and use tableware separately. Tooth extraction is prohibited within 3 years after radiotherapy to avoid mandibular osteitis.

4. Radiation otitis media and nose and eye care. Rinse the nasal cavity with normal saline twice a day, lubricate the dry nasal cavity with paraffin oil, and pay attention to nasal bleeding. Antibiotics can be used for ears and eyes.

5. Diet care. Patients should drink plenty of water, eat more high-protein, high-vitamin, low-fat foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, eat small and frequent meals, and avoid smoking, drinking, spicy, cold, hot, and hard foods.

6. Oral function exercises. Patients should do more oral function exercises.
