Symptoms of osteosarcoma in children

Osteosarcoma in children mainly develops from mesenchymal cells and is a highly malignant tumor. The main symptoms are pain, lumps, limping, and dysfunction in the joints. In the early stages of osteosarcoma, the blood supply may also cause metastasis to the lungs. A brain and chest CT scan is routinely required before treatment. In the absence of metastasis, surgical treatment is the first choice, and amputation is required if necessary. Subsequent chemoradiotherapy and immunotherapy should be determined based on pathological staging.

Can osteosarcoma heal on its own?

Osteosarcoma is a highly malignant bone tumor that is impossible to heal on its own. Osteosarcoma can cause pain at the tumor site, lumps, lameness, limited joint movement, muscle atrophy, and in severe cases, paralysis and pathological fractures. Radical surgery is the first choice for the treatment of this disease, and amputation is required if necessary. Postoperative consolidation treatment with radiotherapy and chemotherapy and interferon immunotherapy are still required. Osteosarcoma is prone to lung metastasis, so regular chest CT or chest X-ray examinations are required after treatment. At the same time, it can assist in anti-tumor treatment with traditional Chinese medicine.
