What are the metastatic symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and how to care for them

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a type of cancer that harms not only the patient's nasal cavity, but also the patient's entire body. So, what are the metastatic symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma? How to care for it?

What are the metastatic symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma?

1. Lymphatic metastasis. Lymphatic metastasis is common in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients, and the sites of metastasis vary. Cancer cells metastasize to the neck through the lymph nodes, forming a mass. A painless mass in the neck is the most obvious symptom of lymphatic metastasis. The mass first occurs on one side, grows rapidly, and then affects the opposite side of the neck.

2. Lung metastasis. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma can metastasize to the lungs because the nasal cavity and the lungs are both part of the respiratory system. Lung metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is mostly located in the middle and outer zones of the lung fields on both sides, and the chances of metastasis in the left and right lungs are equal. It is often multiple metastasis, and the lesions are round with smooth edges. About 5% of cases are solitary nodules, which should be differentiated from primary lung cancer. Lung metastasis is often asymptomatic in the early stages. The tumor invades the pleura and causes pleural effusion, and the patient will experience cough, chest pain, and shortness of breath.

How to care for nasopharyngeal cancer

1. Avoid eating salted fish: Eating salted fish often can easily lead to nasopharyngeal cancer. According to scientific analysis, rotten salted fish is a food that directly causes cancer, especially nasopharyngeal cancer. Among people aged 15 to 40 in southern China, there are many people suffering from nasopharyngeal cancer. This should also be paid more attention to in the care of nasopharyngeal cancer.

2. Avoid physical overwork: People with nasopharyngeal cancer should avoid physical overwork, such as heavy physical labor, staying up late, and excessive physical exercise, which can cause the body's internal environment to become unbalanced, reduce resistance, and promote the recurrence or metastasis of nasopharyngeal cancer. During the nursing and treatment of nasopharyngeal cancer, attention should be paid to local hygiene, gargle several times a day, and rinse the nasopharyngeal cavity when necessary.
