What should I do about tinnitus after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma?

Radiotherapy is a common method of cancer treatment, but it does not necessarily mean that radiotherapy is beneficial and harmless to patients. A nasopharyngeal cancer patient developed tinnitus after radiotherapy. What should he do? Does he need to do anything?

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a malignant tumor with extremely uneven geographical distribution. 80% of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in the world occurs in China, with southern China being the most common area. It is a malignant tumor that occurs in the nasopharyngeal mucosa.

Radiotherapy kills cancer cells by causing chromosome mutations to lose their normal functions, leading to the death of cancer cells, but radiotherapy can also cause the same death of normal cells. Therefore, this symptom occurs. However, there is no definite and effective method for treating tinnitus. Treatment should be targeted at the cause as much as possible. In addition, reducing anxiety, relaxing the mood, and paying attention to rest are beneficial to tinnitus. The following methods may also provide some help:

1. Drugs: vasodilators, neurotrophic drugs, antianxiety drugs, antidepressants, carbamazepine-type anticonvulsants, lidocaine and tranquilizers, as well as traditional Chinese medicines such as Liuwei Dihuang Pills; 2. Masking treatment;

3Electrical stimulation therapy;

4Psychological treatment;

5. Ear massage: Like the traditional massage method of Mingtian Gu: press the ears with both palms, place the thumbs behind the head, and tap the back of the head with four fingers.

Doing the above methods may have a certain good effect on tinnitus! In addition, after radiotherapy, you should also pay attention to your diet. The food should be easy to digest, fresh and delicious, and rich in nutrients such as protein, vitamins, and amino acids, such as kelp, seaweed, asparagus, jellyfish and other products.
