Why is there double vision during radiotherapy and chemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma? How to treat it

After suffering from nasopharyngeal carcinoma, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are generally used, but these treatments will also bring some sequelae. So, what is the shadow of radiotherapy and chemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma? How to treat it?

What happens if there is double vision during radiotherapy and chemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma?

From an anatomical point of view, the location of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is relatively hidden, and the nasopharynx is deep, so professional examinations are required to determine it in the early stage. The early symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are not typical. The most common symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are blood and early symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Persistent nasal congestion continues to worsen, tinnitus, hearing loss, cervical lymphadenopathy, diplopia, etc.; 60% of cervical lymphadenopathy is the first symptom, which also shows that the tumor does not metastasize to the neck early. These symptoms have a certain characteristic of "confusing". Some patients ignore the condition and delay diagnosis. It is recommended to be particularly vigilant. The clinical manifestations of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are complex and changeable, and it is easy to miss, misdiagnose or delay diagnosis for a long time.

When there are symptoms such as blood, unilateral nasal congestion, tinnitus, ear occlusion, hearing loss, headache, diplopia, or deep cervical lymphadenopathy, an indirect nasopharyngeal endoscopy or electronic endoscopy should be performed as soon as possible, and a nasopharyngeal biopsy should be performed as necessary for the diagnosis of EB virus serology, imaging, etc.

How to treat it?

For patients with early nasopharyngeal carcinoma, it mainly depends on whether appropriate treatment is taken in time. The main treatment for early nasopharyngeal carcinoma is radiotherapy, and the 5-year survival rate after early treatment reaches more than 70%.

After understanding that double imaging can occur during radiotherapy and chemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, we can take measures as soon as the problem is discovered, prescribe the right medicine, and cure it in time.
