What are the symptoms of lymphoma?

Early lymphoma usually does not hurt or itch, so it is often ignored. About 60% of lymphoma patients will first find swollen lymph nodes in the neck. The initial symptom is a single swelling, which will gradually increase in number and become larger. If lymphoma invades the bone marrow, pale face, fever, abnormal bleeding will appear. If it occurs in the stomach, small intestine or large intestine, abdominal distension, bloody stool, abdominal pain and other peptic ulcers will appear.

1. Lymph node enlargement: Deep lymph nodes are more common in the mediastinum and around the abdominal aorta. Superficial lymph nodes are more common in the neck, followed by the armpits and abdominal groove. The characteristics are that the enlarged lymph nodes are progressive, painless, hard, and can be moved. In the early stage, they are not adhered to each other, but in the late stage, they can fuse. Anti-inflammatory and anti-tuberculosis treatments are ineffective.

2. Local compression symptoms caused by swollen lymph nodes: mainly refers to deep lymph nodes. Swollen lymph nodes compress the superior vena cava and cause superior vena cava syndrome. Compression of the esophagus can cause dysphagia; compression of the trachea can cause coughing, chest tightness, dyspnea and cyanosis, etc.

3. Fever: The fever pattern is mostly irregular, usually between 38-39°C. Some patients may have continuous high fever, intermittent low fever, and a few have periodic fever.

4. Weight loss: Most patients experience weight loss, with a reduction of more than 10% of their original body weight within 6 months.

5. Night sweats: sweating at night or after falling asleep.
