How to diagnose tongue cancer

How to diagnose tongue cancer

Tongue cancer can be diagnosed through imaging, laboratory, dentistry, histopathology and other methods, and then targeted treatment can be carried out.

1. Imaging examination

Imaging examinations for this disease include superficial lymph node B-ultrasound, chest CT, head MRI, etc. These examinations can provide detailed information about the size and location of the patient's lesions, and whether there is metastasis to the chest and lymph nodes.

2. Laboratory examination

Laboratory tests include biochemistry, tumor markers, blood routine, urine routine, etc. Biochemistry can be used to evaluate the patient's liver and kidney function. Tumor markers are mainly used for early screening and auxiliary diagnosis of tumors, and sometimes can also be used to monitor and evaluate prognosis. Routine blood tests can be used to determine whether the patient has anemia and infection.

3. Oral specialist examination

The purpose of the oral specialist examination is to determine whether the patient has precancerous lesions such as leukoplakia, and to observe the shape of the tongue and whether there is pain. In some cases, the early lesions are mucosal leukoplakia with a rough surface, which then develops into ulcers or papillae, and some are cauliflower and edge eversion.

4. Histopathological examination

Histopathological examination can determine the pathological classification of tongue cancer, and then select the appropriate treatment plan based on the pathological classification.

Patients with tongue cancer should pay attention to daily care, maintain good oral hygiene, eat a light diet, eat less spicy and irritating foods, and minimize irritation to the tongue.
