Can a blood test detect nasopharyngeal cancer? What are the symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer?

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma often occurs in the pharyngeal recess and anterior wall of the nasopharynx. The lesions can be nodular, ulcerative, submucosal infiltrates, etc. Most of them are poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinomas. Others may be adenocarcinomas, undifferentiated carcinomas, etc.

The symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer include:

1. Symptoms of unexplained nasal bleeding, excluding colds, fever, nasal trauma, nasal mucosal damage, nasal polyps, etc.;

2. Unilateral nasal congestion symptoms. The symptoms of nasal congestion are usually not obvious in the early stage. As the nasopharyngeal cancer grows, the symptoms of nasal congestion become progressively worse. Anti-cold treatment is ineffective and the disease can develop into bilateral symptoms.

3. Symptoms in one ear: Invasion of the ear by nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissue may cause pain, tinnitus, hearing loss and other symptoms, and invasion of the pharyngeal tube may cause otitis media;

4. Oral symptoms: patients may have loose mouth on one side, drooling, and shallow nasolabial groove, which are mostly caused by nasopharyngeal carcinoma invading the cranial nerves.

For patients, it is advisable to eat foods that can protect against the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy: figs, eggplant, walnuts, mung beans, red beans, sunflower seeds, rapeseed, persimmons, black plums, watermelon, cucumber, pumpkin, asparagus, lemon, jujube, loach, catfish, crab, chicken blood, yellow catfish, eel, shark, herring, horseshoe crab, jellyfish, pig brain, sheep brain, duck blood, goose blood, mackerel, and sea cucumber.
