What is the reason for swollen feet after standing for a long time

In our lives, many people need to stand for a long time at work. We all know that after standing for a long time, our bodies will be particularly tired. For female friends, if they stand for a day in high heels, it is particularly easy to get swollen feet. Many patients with poor kidney function will have swollen feet after standing for a while, and they will also feel some pain. So what is the reason for swollen feet after standing for a long time?

1. Posture factors

Walking or standing for a long time, sitting in an incorrect posture, with legs hanging down for a long time, or sitting for a long time can cause abnormal blood circulation in the lower limbs, thereby reducing the auxiliary effect of muscle movement on venous blood return and causing edema. This swelling will subside after rest.

2. Local chronic injury

A history of ankle sprain in the past may cause scarring of the soft tissue and chronic injury, which may lead to swollen feet after standing or walking for a long time.

3. Lack of protein

Due to irregular daily diet or long-term dieting, our protein intake is significantly reduced, resulting in blood circulation not being smooth, resulting in swollen feet. For this type of swollen feet, you should pay attention to supplementing with high-quality protein to promote blood circulation.

4. Idiopathic edema

It is more common in elderly women and may be related to endocrine dysfunction and abnormal response to upright posture. Symptoms often occur in both feet at the same time. The degree is mild and will gradually disappear after lying down or resting.

5. Caused by heart disease

When right heart failure occurs in various heart diseases, the venous blood cannot return smoothly, causing the pressure in the veins to increase, and body fluids leak into the tissue spaces, causing edema, which starts from the feet and then spreads to the whole body.

6. Caused by decreased renal function

Suffering from acute nephritis, chronic nephritis or kidney disease, due to reduced renal blood flow, sodium and water retention, increased capillary permeability, and excessive protein loss in the urine, will cause the plasma colloidal osmotic pressure to decrease, causing fluid accumulation in the tissue gaps and causing edema. However, it usually starts with swelling of the eyelids or face, and then spreads to the whole body.
